cost of delivery to Aussie.

I am probably asking the wrong guys but there are a lot of nationalities on the site, so here goes, why is the transport from UK so high when you want to order something for you L322? I ordered 2 folding camp chairs from UK and the delivery charge was £9.95 when i wanted to order rocker cover gaskets the delivery price rocketed up to £24.95 , i always thought delivery charges were set by size and weight or is it whatever you want to charge and what ever you can get away with Big Cry Is there some some secret you guys can share with a poor L322..4.4 V8 owner? Bow down

You need to be realistic, 2 camp chairs half way round the world, 9.95 someone made a mistake.
If you get your parts from the UK you should not pay 20% VAT which helps to offset shipping charges. Super quick delivery attracts a premium. You can always check with the Royal Mail website to get an Idea what is fair. If you cant get a better deal from the UK including shipping you are buying from the wrong place.
Why on earth would you buy camp chairs from the UK, Perth must have the most diverse selection of camp chairs on the Planet.

It depends what carrier the retailer uses.

A couple of years ago Royal Mail (our national postal service) decided to raise all their prices. In most cases now it's actually cheaper to send anything more than a letter via courier!

Some carriers charge more than others, and most carriers bill their customers depending on the number of parcels they send, so the more parcels they send the cheaper they get the carriage. Some places wont send many parcels overseas so get charged a higher rate for international shipments. have a look at www.parcel2go.com, you can get an idea of what courier rates might be.

Of course there are some people who just rip you off on postage. On the other hand some larger places charge a flat rate and sometimes make a loss on the postage. - Amazon for example offer free postage on a lot of items, clearly they still have to pay for the postage - it's just built into the item price.

Wed be happy to quote you any items for your lovely FFRR.

We have shipped quite a few items to your part of the world.

We even sent one member 5 brand new ATR tyres because he couldn't get them in Oz.

(Please note we cant ship from Ebay / Gumtree sellers unless its a business)

Cheers.

Thanks for thhe prompt replys, Wayneg, you wouldn,t beleive it but to get a decent lightweight campchair like those cheap canvas ones is impossible, if they don,t make it in China we can,t get it in Aussie, plenty of those useless umbrella type though.
Thanks Dave, i have only had my fulfat for about 5 months so there are things i need to set right, if you have something as beautiful as a fulfat why not have it at the best you can? so i am slowly going through things i know need doing. When i change d the spark plugs i noticed the oil leak in the rocker cover so that is on the list, of course at a reasonable price, I was quoted £16.37 for both sides and then £24.68 for transport. Ouch. I will keep looking. Rolling with laughter

Chasazim,

If you have a few small items you can send them to me where I will hold them until we get a few bits together and send as one parcel to Perth.

I do it for a couple of chaps on the D3 forum and as a site sponsor im obviously a trust worthy chap. Rolling with laughter

It helps reduce the costs if you have a few bits to go as one then and also people can post them to me via Royal Mail 2nd class which is pretty keen.

Dave

Be aware as well that some suppliers actually make money off the transport costs and attract you to buy by offering cheap deals and then maximise profit by pumping delivery costs up!

I lived in Sydney for 3 years and post to/from the UK was generally quicker than second class post inside the UK. But if you live in WA you takes your chances...
