Windscreen cracked

I got in the car this morning and there is a 6" crack on my windscreen. Arse.

It wasn't there yesterday when I parked up. Nothing has happened other than the sun coming out.

Looking at it, there is no obvious stone chip (there is a tiny fragment missing from the crack in the pillar area but it doesn't look like a classic chip).

Worth arguing the toss on warranty or just get the Autoglass bodgers out?

your insurance should cover it with an excess of around £75 or so and it doesnt affect your no claims.... ... - .- -.

Some policies do impact NCD. Some even load premiums on renewal.

I have a crack in the bottom corner of mine. After hearing all the horror stories about badly fitted replacements, I'm holding out replacing it for as long as I can. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

A very contentious subject in that there is no definitive answer from the insurance people. It's clear that most insurers/underwriters have separated glass claims from RTA, TPFT etc claims but what they're not stating is whether or not it will have an impact on, or influence any increase on renewal. For those who jump ship and switch providers, well, it seems this has initiated a request for disclosure of any previous (glass) claims.

It's an ever changing industry and the changes/legalities/flaws/catches/loopholes/etc go unnoticed because the focus is on price.

Another interesting thread (which started from insider knowledge about some insurers suspending NCD following a glass claim) can be seen here (you might need a cup of tea for this one!).

Generally speaking, the trade is alarmingly lacking in many departments. That said, it's not all bad; there are good fitters/firms out there. However, perception is also another thing.

Who renews with their current insurers anyway? Their business is mostly driven by new business which is why they offer the crazy discounts. No loyalty with them at all.

Get the auto glass guys out. Had a bmw that did this just cracked straight down the middle. Amazing how fast the crack grows.

Some will ask for disclosure of glass/previous windscreen claims.

I've never had to do that.

I think the worrying one is the panoramic glass that's not covered in some cars.
