Any ICE bofs on here

I'm talking about Harman Kardon in my Vogue, it obviously sounded nice, but I find the sub-bass lacking, you know the kind of bass you could feel rather than hear... it doesn't matter how I adjust it, i just couldn't achieve the effect I wanted Confused it sounds to me the woofer is located in the front, which i don't think its an ideal location for it...

I find the lower spec ice from D3 actually sounded nicer(only in the sub bass department), but not in overall clarity.

Did anyone made any modification to improve it further? may be a small subwoofer box in the boot?

Thanks, would you know where the amp is installed in the RR?

The amp may have a sub-output...

The sub is in the back, left side. The amp is also there. If you remove the left cover you can see both. I also find the sound dissapoiting, I had the Disco with the premium (non Logic7) before and it sounded MUCH better from less speakers...

thanks, I've located the sub this morning, in the rear 1/4panel right next to the DVD nav module, a nice big black box with a 6" or 8" woofer, turned the volume up, you could feel it was vibrating, but somehow not much sound or very little sound coming out of it, I sat in the back seat, could feel or hear very little, the majority of the bass still coming from the front!! Too much power going into the midrange spks, and not enough power going thru to the subbox.

I think a solution would be to install a decent, but discreet active sub-box in the boot, and reduce the bass setting on the HK itself, it should hopefully gives me the depth of bass I really wanted Thumbs Up

ps just in case anyone thinks I'm a chav blasting out music..I'm not!!! All i wanted was quality sound Thumbs Up

So true about the bass... I'm curious, beside the bass/treble and balance controls, aren't there other settings? Like, effect, delay, etc.?

Nope! Just bass, subwoofer, and treble Confused May be I'll ask JE engineering, a well known LandRover specialist whom also does ICE upgrade...

Not many people seems to be interested in this, but heres the update anyway...

After speaking to a few friends whom are more knowledgeable, and also a few audio shop, I've just bought an In-Phase active sub

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...-23033.htm

Nothing fancy, does not take up too much boot space, but very well built and has a good reputation Thumbs Up its a 12" woofer comes recommended by friends and audio shop due to RR size, I've choosen this due to ease of installation, (no drilling, no masses of wiring) will disconnect existing woofer in car, take the signal feed to the active sub, and it also comes with a remote gain control which can be mounted under the dash somewhere, so you could adjust the bass level separately Thumbs Up
Will update everyone again once fitted.

Neat! But couldn't you put it in the original sub's place? Here's what I found somewhere:

Hi Adara, that looks like a custom built box with may be a 10"woofer on it, the std HK sub enclosure only has a tiny 5-3/4" woofer!!! No wonder its making hardly any bass Confused

I opted for the active sub for convenience, I could put it back to standard in no time, and its a much cheaper option around £300fitted. I bet that custom jobs above could cost well into 4 figures sum Shocked Afterall, i only wanted some bass improvement....

Another reason being I don't like having the trims ripped out, unless I could physically stand there and watch them doing it to make sure they don't damage anything!!

Never really thought the std Sub in the Sport or the Vogue does much, no matter what you set it too, can't really tell any difference.

I can't even figure if the panel in front of the speaker is allowing soundwaves to pass through it...

It has a speaker grill on top of the panel to allow the sound out....

more update... had it installed this morning, more than happy with the result, the bass now has much more depth, and slightly softer, mine is a 12" active sub, although I suspect a good 10" will be just as good(will give more punchier sound), and saves more space.

Now I drive even slower than before, just so that I could listen to the music longer Embarassed
