Juddering transmission

I am not quite sure how to describe this but here goes:

under light load on the flat and when going uphill I get jerky feel as if the transmission is seeking the right gear or dropping out a bit then back in.

Sorry the description is not very good but does anybody have any ideas?

Mine is an 04 Vogue 4.4 petrol

Thanks

Mileage? , I bet the gear box has never been serviced either. Lots on here about gearbox judder like if going over a cattle grid.

Mine did the same last month and I changed the oil and filter, gearbox is smoother now after that, not saying yours will be the same but always try a service first.

Have a search, gear box judder.
Service the gearbox is in the wiki. Thumbs Up If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Doesn't matter really. it's 11 years old and oil does deteriorate over time. An oil service would be likely to sort it based on the low mileage though.

not that I'm an expert but i did feel a small judder in my 4.4. Same slow incline and then the judder
I read alot about Torque converter clutch and glazing of internal plates.
D3 boys sing the praises of Dr Tranny and a good double gearbox flush and filter.
While like most, I don't believe in fix-in-a-bottle,
BUT the more I read the reviews on Dr Tranny it does seem do want is says on the tube and stop judder.
At £12 its worth a shot.
Many on this forum put it in as part of their general service of the gearbox oil
I have just got my tubes and will be putting one in shortly.
My gearbox oil is only a few thousand miles old so I will try a tube as I plan to do another flush next month (gearbox oil isn't cheap at 7L a flush).
Will bump the Fatty onto a high kerb drivers side and put in Dr Tranny while running in park

Well, it appears it was symptomatic of a problem.

Driving home the other day I got Tran Failsafe Prog. Stopped, turned off the engine and started it again and it seemed to be OK until I tried pulling away then got it again.

Car is now at the local independent specialist and the gearbox ECU is reporting faults - current recommendation is a recon gearbox.

So - the next job is to get the dealer I got it from 6 weeks ago to cough up as I had asked him to check it out and he failed to tell the garage he used what the symptoms were.
