Brakes Screeching At Low Speed - Anyone Have This?

Hi all

My 13 plate SDV8 VSE brakes screech quite a lot at slow speeds when lightly applied or when coming to a stop, does anyone else have this issue?

Its very embarrassing pulling my £70k car up at lights to admiring glances only to hear it screech to a stop, not great after 3 weeks of ownership.

Hopefully it can be sorted out without the need for new pads?

Thanks

Carl

Nope but it happens on my Aston.

You can try an Italian anti squeal solution.

Find an empty road. Brake as hard as you can from 70mph to about 20mph. Don't stop. Repeat two or three more times.

Had it with my L322, kicked up a fuss with the dealer and they replaced all discs and pads under warranty. Sorted the trick for a circa 10k miles. Then they replaced them all again and it was good until I sold it!

Thanks for the replies, I think I may be getting the start of the knocking in the front suspension when going over potholes or uneven road surfaces so will call my local dealer.

I always expect to be fobbed off then end up starting to loose interest in the car, I hope this doesn't end up the same way?

Out of interest, the rear discs have visible score lines and a small lip and the fronts only the lip, how much lip is considered within wear limits please?

I've done about 750 miles in it since purchase and will be well pi**ed off if it needs new brakes?

Thanks

Get it back to the dealer for inspection. Both of my SDV8 models have had new anti-squeal pads fitted under warranty. Suspect the SC might be next. Seemed to start happening at about 15k miles for me, but I'm very light on the brakes.

Have a 2015 L405 V8 Autobiography and the brakes started screeching at 300 miles and 2 weeks of driving. Annoying and embarrassing. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced the pads with some redesigned, better or more heavy duty, pads. I now have about 3,500 miles and no brake noises so far. 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)
