Under Seat First Aid Box.

So the under seat first aid kit is no longer available from Land-Rover.

But as you know the L322 shares lots of bits with the 1st generation BMW X5.

So i took a punt and ordered the first aid box from an X5, it fits perfectly.

So you need two parts;

The actual Box and the mounting bracket.

The mounting points under under the front edge of the seat, there is a third one in the middle just a bit further back, offer up the bracket to the front two and it's obvious where the rear one is. They're about 6mm diameter, and not threaded, but they're only pressed steel so i just screwed some M6 bolts in and let them cut their own thread.

Bracket in situ, the box just pushes onto it with a firm shove.

The finished result. You can use it for storing various small oddments in instead of a first aid kit if you like.

I used BMW Parts;
52 10 7 045 018 Which is the mounting bracket
52 10 7 044 958 Which is the actual box.
The pair of them cost me £42 from a BMW dealer.

You can also add;

51 47 7 158 344 Which is the pouch filled with first aid supplies to go in it, but it's normally cheaper just to make your own up.

Looks good.

I am still wondering about that mod.

Was mentioned in a thread I did a few years ago ;

It does make use of other wise wasted space.

I've ordered the fire extinguisher kit too to see how that works out. It's half the price of the land Rover one!

And I dare say it will handle better and be lighter than the Land Rover offering, but somehow won't feel as nice Rolling with laughter 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

There's also a rumour the fire extinguishers supplied to Land-Rover were nobbled so they wouldn't put a fire out, in the hope that all the L322's would burn out and not compete with BMW cars. Laughing

Its a good mod, I fitted one under the drivers seat, already having one under the passenger side. .

I believe the mounting bracket is P/N 52 10 7 045 018.

However, can you tell me where you got them, please? I have searched on the web but they do not come up on the web for France. The only listings are for UK and, as they are BMW UK sites they will not ship to France. Presumably because they expect BMW France to supply. As said, can't get the part numbers to come up for BMW France.

The only other one that came up was in Poland but my Polish isn't up to it. I never got beyond "Cherry Blossom, Kiwi, Dark Tan." Embarassed Very Happy

Thanks for pointing that out, i hadn't noticed i'd typed the same part number twice i've just corrected it.

I bought them from BMW direct on ebay, however they just charge the same retail price as the BMW dealer then add a couple of pounds for postage.

I would expect the part numbers will still be valid at your local BMW dealer, they should be the same part numbers world wide. The local dealer might even be able to give a small discount. If they aren't just ask your local dealer for a first aid box and bracket for an X5 (E53)

Thanks for that. I will have to visit the local BMW dealer. Don't hold out much hope of discount over here. Sad John

Perhaps, but even so it's unlikely to be more expensive than in the UK.

Just dragging up an old thread - this is very cool, but I can't work out am I looking at the front or the back of the front seat?

It’s from the front I believe, but our cars are too new... it’s for the BMW Seats, but might be hackable.....
