o2 Sensor Aging - just like me!

Got in car today (been about 5 days since last drove it)

Car a bit high on tickover (about 900rpm as opposed to 640ish)

Had this before bad turned out to be poor connection to throttle body at front of engine.

Fault code this time P0159 O2 sensor aging fault, downstream bank 2

Any ideas on how big a job this is - or any tips for doing this work? Thanks.

Are leads long enough so you can swap leads from bank 1 to bank 2 to see if fault follows.

Guess it is over to Dan for new parts shortly! Howard

Can't see how a downstream 02 sensor can give poor idling, they are just there to check the efficiency of the cat....

The rear ones do have pretty long leads, longer than the front, if you unthread them from all round the transfer box you could swap the leads... dead easy to change.. 22mm (I think) ring spanner, someone even thought about it and made it so the plug on the end is smaller than the spanner opening which is unusual... (It's easier to get off with a ring spanner as they are usually pretty tight.... Thumbs Up

I recon your low revs is your singing throttle body as in your other post... Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your input.

Well today - several stop start trips over 4 to 5 miles (my little Tiger's 4th Birthday Party), and on the last trip car tickover sits back down to normal - about 640rpm and about 800rpm with AC on.

So happy bunny.

Reckon it was several days of heavy rain without the car being moved - probably damp in some sensor or "too feckin clever by half" electronics gizmo.

Anyway back to normal Cool Howard
