Suspension Pump.

Evening all. I collected my 4.4TDV8 from the dealer today after a warranty replacement of the suspension compressor, following a warning message of 'suspension has been lowered for your safety'.

Prior to replacement, the pump would be heard to occasionally operate when topping up the system. Since collection today, I have heard it operate on at least five occasions, generally after start up. This evening upon switching off, the car was seen to 'drop' at the rear left (I didn't see if it dropped elsewhere).

I'm assuming this is not normal, so any ideas? Going away tomorrow and am wondering if the car will be fit for purpose. I'm also wondering if it is worthwhile visiting the dealer tomorrow and giving them a rocket and requesting that it be fixed quickly.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I know mine is at the other end of the scale but mine behaves like yours is now, it likes to have a little settle when I stop to level it up and the pump runs a fare bit....

I wonder if they haven't fitted the sound proofing back around the pump properly so now you can hear it more??

Wouldn't go in with guns blazing too much as it may be how it's supposed to be now!!! Pete

A good point! I'll be subtle.

Think they do level a little if parked on uneven ground.
Be worth getting checked out tho, as I can't say that I've ever heard my pump run & I use access mode all the time. 2011 (MY12) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

I've been monitoring the pump over the past few days and there are two areas of concern.

Firstly, it is noisier than before, nit by much but I now know when it is running even with the engine on.

Secondly, it seems to run a lot more than previously. This maybe because I'm now noticing it running whereas before I couldn't hear it.

How often does it generally run? I don't tend to use e raise/lower functions.

Update.

I've seen the invoice and the original Hitachi compressor has been replaced with a AMK unit. This should run as quietly as the original, however some internet searches bring up noise being caused by poor fitment.

If they are anything like the Wabco pump, they do seam to take a few days to bed in, mine is working a lot better now then when it was first fitted. Took about a week if memory serves me right, but it wasn't any noisier than the original pump... I think a quiet word may be needed Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
