Choice of two L405s

Currently looking at a couple of L405s, would appreciate any comments on which one looks the better buy...

Car 1 - July 2014 .3.0 Autobiography 14000 miles 22" turbine alloys, black on black and its £77844

http://www.farnelllandrover.com/used-car/1...el-estate/

Car 2 - November 2014 3.0 Vogue SE, black on black, 8600 miles, £68995. It has the standard 20"s and only options are privacy and deployable tow bar.

The newer and low miles VSE is appealing but am out off slightly by the standard alloys. Then again an AB......... For £9k more!

I agree , autobiography stands out. Although stick those AB wheels on the VSE and there is nothing between them other than £9k !

I think the VSE is winning and the deal is much, much better than the AB.

That AB seems slightly pricey. I paid roughly that for my 4.4 SDV8 AB 2 months ago with similar miles. 2014 SDV8 Autobiography Cool

I assume that was from a RR dealer JasM? It's one of the cheapest year old AB's on the LR website.

Regarding the VSE is it straightforward to swap the 20" wheels for OEM 21"s or 22"s ? No spacers or software recoding required?

22" wheels and tyres come up on eBay. They are £2-2.5k. An easy swap. Your old ones you can flog for £1-£1.5k I'd have thought.

I really like the extra quality of Autobiography specs. Personally I'd hang on for a better Autobiography deal.

But if I had to choose between those then the VSE is better VFM.

I've just checked eBay, there are quite a few of the 21" FFRR L405 wheels for sale. 10 spoke style 4? I like them, think they are the standard AB wheel - they are around the £1000-£1200 mark which doesn't seem too bad to me. Particularly if I can then sell the 20" for £800 or so.

How do you ensure you are buying genuine LR alloys though?

Yes it was from a LR dealer. Why not go for an SDV8 for similar money?

Oh and BTW I have a set of 21" genuine autobiography wheels with tyres for sale which came off my year old AB. I have listed them on here and ebay.

Let me know if you are interested Thumbs Up 2014 SDV8 Autobiography Cool

Hi JasM,
If I buy this VSE I am definitely intersted in the wheels, do you have your eBay link?
I don't want a 4.4SDV8, I don't want the higher running costs and can't justify it. I will be v happy with a TDV6.

United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

Why not say to the dealer that you'll only take the VSE if they will swap the wheels with another FFRR? I doubt they would loose out on a deal over wheels, particularly if they could just swap them with another used stock car Thumbs Up Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White

I will ask, I have already alluded to the fact that the compromise for me with the VSE is the lack of larger alloys. It's not the end of the world but it would be nice! The 22" are fab but I have gone off diamond cut alloys, the cost of repairing the inevitable kerb damage is considerably more than standard alloys.

Do they come with the centre caps? Assume just a swap with the 20"s which I could then sell to cover the majority of the cost!

I am making the decision on the VSE this morning. I asked if they would include full tank of fuel, rubber boot mat, cargo barrier and rear seat covers, mthey said yes to everything except the cargo barrier but have said I can have one at cost (£350 instead of £412). I forgot to ask about a years VED but hope I can get this as well. They have offered the best price I have received on my RRS as a part ex.
