United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black

I do want a sporting drive, it wasn't the more refined dynamics that pi**ed me off it was the way it moved around on anything but perfect roads, I was always moving around, slow speeds, higher speeds, no difference. I could see the bonnet bobbing up and down and feel it rock me about a lot, and I feel that it should not do those things, the suspension didn't absorb the road conditions well at all and a recent control arm replacement cured a knocking noise for 1 day.

Too many problems with it too, just not good enough.

I'm not in a fortunate position really, but couldn't stick with it, I felt I should have had a better experience for the amount these cars cost.

I love the 4x4 / SUV experience, don't want to go saloon / estate car and wanted an all in one package, the Cayenne was incredible but I've had that many times so ML63 got my vote, and MB have been very good so far, lets see how that goes?

I do dearly wish I could have kept the RR, it looks amazing but it needs to be built better and have better dealer / manufacturer support if LR want to charge £75k and up. I've owned different variants of them all and its not the best by far, I know from learning the hard way.

All the best guys

Carl

Have you driven the Merc at length yet, in the same conditions as the FFRR ?? I drove a ML in Nigeria (imported new) and like my L322 4.2 SC better tbh. The Merc didn't feel that well on the Censored roads there. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I just cant help think more issues are to come with the RR, it doesnt drive how I want it to and the values are dropping now, is it such a bad thing giving up on it?

ML not for me on looks alone, but each to their own. I'm sure it's a fine car.

Having made one expensive mistake (buying an L405 without testing it), why are you repeating the experiment (buying am ML65 without testing it)?

Einstein once defined insanity as repeating the same actions and expecting a different outcome...

Im in agreement that the L405 looks fabulous, its the main reason I bought it, but the drive is just too relaxed for me.

Id expect people on here to say they prefer the RR, otherwise they would be on the Mercedes forums Thumbs Up

The ML63 was considered because it does a few specific things better than the RR, sound, performance, handling and yet has the large 4x4 / SUV practicality about it. Unless you have been in an AMG version its difficult to understand how different it is, its also a very fine place to be when sat inside, very different to a regular ML.

The styling is more agressive and with the larger wheels, and privacy against a white body it looks quite nice, not as classy as the L405 I admit but more finished with the chrome exhaust tips, AMG brakes etc.

I parked next to one at the local MB dealer and it did have a prestige appearance, something the none AMG didnt have when I looked at one in the showroom to compare.

Call me snobby, but saying you drive a Range Rover is better than saying you drive an ML, however much bling it has on it. Isn't it a GLE now anyway?

I agree and its part of the reason I woke up this morning wondering why, but I've driven Bentley's, Porsche's and all the other premium marques outside of Ferrari, Lambo etc. so I'm not overly concerned about it now (i think Embarassed ) and Id rather feel like I was really enjoying the car rather than thinking "don't I look good with my RR" when I actually don't like it for many reasons on top of the reasons I do like it a lot.

I have bought it without buying it, but made sure I did not enter the dealership, so I am covered by the distance selling regulations meaning i can withdraw from the deal and get my money back (checked to be sure this morning).

I did buy the RR without buying and it was a mistake, I will be driving the ML63 before signing to take ownership, that's for sure.

Trust me when I say its a very difficult decision, I found myself wanting something else so there must be an amount of dissatisfaction with my L405, perhaps selling may prove to be the wrong choice, who knows Big Cry

It doesn't sound like selling the L405 is the wrong choice for you, however I am afraid the ML may also disappoint you as I don't expect it to drive better than the L405 as in the type of driving you seem to prefer.

Anyway, time will tell and I'm sure you end up with something you like (enough) at some point, be it a ML or a Cayenne again Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
