16MY L405 - first impressions

I replaced my 13MY Vogue SE SDV8 with a 16MY Vogue SDV8 today.

First impressions are very good. The car is better in many areas.

The infotainment system is vastly superior for a start. Quicker to respond with sharper graphics.

The engine is quieter and seems to pull more readily at low revs. My 13my engine was not very refined at all. You could feel vibrations through the steering wheel at idle and a resonance at moderate revs.

The suspension feels a bit stiffer and more composed with a bit less wallowing in bends.

The car is quieter and smoother and it feels more confident on the road.

The engine produces less CO2 nudging the road tax down by £200; emissions quality is further improved with adblue.

Overall I made the right choice to replace the old one. Things have moved on a lot since early 2013.

Not tested it yet... I'm not sure how to activate it.

I'll let you know when it gets dirty. In about 3 days.

Activates when you wash the rear window!

Is the clarity of it better?

And the new infotainment is basically the same with different menu structure and graphics right? Higher resolution though too?

Thanks, I will test in due course.

The clarity is much better.

The menus are a bit different compared to my old car.

There is a few more options. There is a screen to assess driving efficiency. And a different home screen. Even different symbols for the side buttons.

You can activate the heated seats using the a/c temperature controls instead of faffing with the touch screen.

Does the improved infotainment screen mean you lose the dual view screen?

I like the dual view as my wife can see what the children are laughing at on the RSE! 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

No but from what I understand vehicles without dual view have a better resolution screen.

...so, being the first asking for PICTURES Embarassed I would also ask for "Special" ones not yet available on the web:

- front camera location (center grille?)
- inside door panels (they should have incresaed the coloured bottom part)
- infotainment screenshots (of course)

- ...anything else you found as "new"...

Thank you. Bow down

The suspension switch hasn't changed. It's the tailgate opening/lane departure warning/dash brightness switch.

Additionally, how are the buttons now? I believe they've changed the finish on all the buttons throughout the vehicle to hard touch rather than soft touch?

And does the V8 now have stop start? I know people complain about it, but there are times when I wish my RR had this feature - for example, when queueing in terrible traffic and you move forward a few metres every 5 minutes, I'd rather the car stopped the engine but kept all the electronics going. If I stop the engine myself, everything stops and I have to turn the radio back on manually. 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

Start/stop is part of getting it through Euro6 emissions.
