Fitted the brembo 6 pot upgrade today, with write up and pic

This is my write up on the brembo 2010 conversion.

Fist find a set of 2010 onwards callipers for the 4.4 tdv8 or the 5.0 s/c. The sport and the ff are the same. I didn’t want to spend a lot on it so went for second hand from a written off low mileage tdv8.

They were in good order. I don’t usually do second hand brakes but these seemed good. Discs only had a minute lip on them so I decided to re use them, I checked for run out with a clock gauge and they checked out fine.

Callipers are LR016659 and LR016661

Got them for 200 quid, bargain.

The calliper pins were seized in so I had to drill them out. I also needed new pads and a different sensor.

Pads are LR016684
Sensor is LR012824
And the dust shields are the same so no need to change them. The torx screws are also the same. The bolts are different but im unsure of the part number, you could just cut them down. This is due to no longer needing the spacer bars.

The pin kit is LR016683
And the dics are LR011591

Once I had removed the stubborn pins I cleaned up with petrol, checked all the seals and the bleed nipples and then painted them and garnished with new brembo decals.

The rest is straightforward in as such as its just changing brake callipers.

Nice job you've done there, a real bargain as well, guy at billing with a set of just bare callipers and he wanted £300 for them...

Is there a noticeable difference..??? Pete

more feel to the pedal I'd say. As to breaking performance. It's hard to say. Maybe feels more controlled.

Matt

Not sure. I believe the hubs and the bolt spacing are different.

Bolt hole size through the hub (to hold the callipers) is significantly smaller on the pre 09my cars so, NO it cannot be achieved safely on a pre facelift FFRR Matt...

New hub casting would need to be purchased as to drill the hole would not leave enough material to hold calliper safely! And they are hundreds each side! Then all the labour to swap bearings etc over...

4 pot Brembo’s are a straight forward fitment and a MUCH cheaper option on early cars Thumbs Up

Craig - could one not theoretically transplant an entire hub casting with brakes and bearings, over from a written off vehicle? Or is the attachment of the later hubs different to early ones? NW060

Indeed one could sir yes... All fits exactly the same way, just the calliper mounting holes that differ in size Thumbs Up
