Just seen that JLR are launching fully online vehicle purchasing from 7th September. Hopefully this will put some pressure on the dealer network to do things better as it completely cuts them out.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. Who do you moan to if things go wrong or build up a rapport with?

Rockar will, they operate the stores/website on behalf of the manufacturer. They offer servicing, not sure about when it goes wrong.

I haven't bought a new RR yet but if it's anything like buying new from dealers of other marques, they expend a lot of effort trying to sell what is available in the network rather than letting you specify the build.

In that respect, being able to option your own rather taking what's offered might be better. Or have I got it all wrong?

My brother just ordered a brand new Golf R using a website called carwow.

You go on the website, choose your car and the spec you want and it emails your request to a load of dealers across the UK who all submit their best price to you via the website. He saved £7k over what the local VW dealer were offering him exactly the same car for.

He's having a weekend away when the car arrives as it's VW in Plymouth who offered him the best deal.

Haven't tried it for an RR yet although it is on the agenda.

Carwow - didn't get a single response when I submitted an enquiry for a new Range Rover - not one.

A good dealer will always match a carwow price any way plus there are good deals on the Golf R every where.

I've used Carwow for Bentley and had a good amount of success.

I put a request out yesterday on CarWow for a 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography and have had 5 responses over the weekend with a saving offered of £7k from LR in Perth.
