Navigation screen will flash Landrover logo then go off help

Took delivery of my Vogue this morning. I was shown everything working and pre sales stuff was all sorted. Turned off and locked went to office to sign paperwork. I can't recall if the display came back on or not, but certainly when I looked it was gray. As I was getting used to the beast and traffic around Cheltenham town center, I did not bother looking until I got home and had the manual to check I had not done something silly. And I don't appear to have. I also appear to not have dash indicators showing or a click, the lights do work just not the visual and audial warnings.

The seller will book me in next week.

Any ideas where to start looking if it saves me a 100 mile round trip?

No still the same this morning, it's got to go back as reversing lights and rear wash wipe don't work either.

Other than these little hiccups which in my view should have been checked before it was offered for sale, it is all the ride I wanted it to be.

Off towing my folding camper later for a weekend in a muddy field, will tryout off road, may even go on the sandy Brean Beach for a play.

I am a recent owner like you. I Cant help with the lights but maybe with the wash wipe. I presume the wiper is working but no fluid coming out, if so there is a one way valve in the tailgate by the wiper motor. Mine was stuck closed, unable to free it I just fitted another generic valve and all good. 2007 TDV8 VSE

No wiper or washer nor high level brake light total lack of any thing on the upper tail gate.
Went camping over the weekend and it towed as if nothing was there, small bit off roading had no dramas either.
Will see what the garage can resolve with their after sales service, I'm ever hopeful but not holding my breath!

If everything on the tailgate isn't working then it sounds like an earth lead issue assuming they have a common earth for all the systems in the tailgate. You need to check for continuity between the earth on the motor and the main body. Check the fuses for the systems and the wiring where it leaves the tailgate and enters the roof, the only point that would suffer from mechanical stresses and strains.

Logo not appearing and appearing then disappearing on the Sat-Nav screen is usually an issue with the DVD drive in the boot (the logo I think is loaded from the DVD on boot up, you can certainly change logos with a differently programmed DVD). Try taking out the Sat-Nav disc and inspecting it and then reload it (behind left hand side cover in the boot). Damp in the same area from a tired boot seal or other entry points can cause similar issues, check the spare wheel well for damp.

The two might be related in that the tailgate might have been removed and poorly refitted at some point.

The OP has a 2003 so will not be DVD Nav equipt sir... Will be a CD Rom era car.

I do agree with the checking for water ingress though... Sounds like it could all be related?

Quite right, although it may have been upgraded to BMW DVD Mk3 like I did to my own...I forget how ancient the old CD-ROM nav is! Same applies though, check the CD-ROM disc and for water ingress.

Just trying to make things crystal clear for the OP as he is obviously a new buyer/member and will probably be searching the forum/wiki for answers... The mention of a DVD may throw his searching into a turmoil Weejock... That was my reasoning sir Bow down

Thanks guys.

Already ejected the cd. Relay clicks for rear wash wipe so could be a bad earth?

Going in Friday and likely to be a week!

Still once fixed I'll be more that happy.

Cam-Tech-Craig, thanks for the offer, I've already earmarked you for help beyond my ability, although 40 years of doing my own mechanical repairs only heavy lifting is now beyond me - someone to get the engine out and I'd rebuild it.
Not delving to far into the faults as the seller has to put them right.

Just a thought when I saw it the second time it had been valeted and the carpet in the boot was wet from cleaning, no puddles in the wells that I could see though.

Morning chaps.

Clive I don't intend to hijack your thread.
I've had the same issue starting yesterday. Drove fine in the morning. In the afternoon when I needed the satnav it crashed.
symptoms: screen went of, came back on with logo. All menus were slow. went of again and when it came back on the menus were a Censored brown cf colour. the dates had changed and no satnav menu option. no response and eventually turned itself off.
This am all fine for 30 mind or so then started rebooting itself again.
disc is a new upgraded disc
satnav unit is upgraded mk4 DVD unit
its been fine for the past 2 years.
no moisture in the cubby. No water in the bottom of the well.

maybe its a software glitch
anyone else with a 03/ 53 reg with new issues?
Cheers
