When I got my car the steering wheel was a bit worn on the top so was going to get a replacement but decided to try and refurnish it first and can say that I am very impressed with the results its 100 times better now and good enough that I don't need to replace it. Dropped some pictures below of what I did and some results.

Its been about a month now only just got round to posting today and seems to be holding up fine so far. Seems to me like it will last and even if not there is enough in the kit to do it about 10 times atleast so can just touch it up!

Does it stay shiny. I have the opposite issue. I have tried the refurb too but the kit I used left a shiny finish which I really don't like. I am looking for something with a matt finish. Ultimately I think I'll send it to PowerfulUK for a swap out but the £120 or whatever it is puts me off if a kit can be had for a fraction....

Liquid Leather's kit is generally matt and they include a gloss enhancer so you can have it as shiny as you want. Regards

It's not as shinny as it is in the picture and I don't think its too shinny for my liking! The leather finish in the kit I got dulls it down a bit so i suppose the more you use the less shinny it will be!! I used the gliptone kit on my seats and that was pretty good and not too shinny! I condidered the powerful UK replacement wheel before I boght the kit but for £14 was happy enough with the results so won't be replacing it!

£14 does sound good. Do you have a link to the place you bought it pal ? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I got it from ebay and it was a seller in Poland but advertising on the UK site. Have a search for steering wheel repair kit on there and it should come up. Don't want to put a link and break the forum rules. Gliptone do the liquid leather one which is supposed to be good as well and I used the parchment one on my seats which was a good colour match and they have come up nicely.

try a Mr Clean magic eraser.
Works wonders at removing dirt and oil!

Glad it worked out for you! I think for £14 it's much better than replacing the full wheel!

I did a similar refurb about a year ago. It was a nothing to lose situation as I was looking at having to buy a new steering wheel whether refurb failed or not.

I used mat black epoxy enamel paint and plastic clear coat, and metho as a cleaning product. I left the wheel in place and covered the inside with old sheets.

It’s still pretty good, and much better than before the refurb, although not quite as shinny as it was. I might need to do another clear coat in a year. ______________________________
