Suspension Fault

I have tried a search and couldn't find any specifically the same as my fault and from reading other posts am getting more confused as to what this could be.

The car has been into the dealers today for the front brake hose recall and they were replaced. When I went to pick the car up they had done a health check and they noted was a suspension fault on the dash. I asked what this was as I had never seen it and they said it just came on when they started it..

This is the first time I have ever seen this fault on my car so unless it is an amazing coincidence I suspect that they have knocked something when doing the brake hoses.

The warning comes up on dash when get key to position and then as soon as it starts goes off and doesn't come back on again when driving, Everything goes up and down ok as well so that seems fine and the alternator has been replaced in the past and I have a brand new battery so am ruling those issues out.

I will be calling the dealer tomorrow to see if they will do a diagnostic to see what they have done but does anyone have any suggestions for things I can check such as sensors to make sure they have been plugged in properly etc?

i'd be tempted to disconnect the battery , do the left to right steering lock and see where that gets you.. ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan I did the left right lock but didn't think about disconnecting the battery. Would that clear random codes?

it wont get rid of any faults codes but i suspect the battery might have been disconnected when they did the hoses but the steering parameters were not set..

so, battery disconnection [details in wiki] and then the steering left full lock and then right full lock...it might not help but again it might Wink ... - .- -.

Thanks will get onto that in the morning worth a go to save a journey back to the dealers! Did I also read that a faulty ABS sensor gives the same message or would that come on when driving??

that could be the cause and they could have damaged it whilst doing the hoses.... ... - .- -.

Battery pull didn't fix it unfortunately so it was back to the dealer!! 10 minutes later after a code read they realised they hadn't plugged the height sensor it properly so that sorted it. Good news that it wasn't a big bill!

Poor show that a main dealer can miss something as important, especially after doing a 'health check'...WTF Shocked

It is pretty shocking and when I told them it must have been something they had done they didn't seem to be too believing!! What's worse is when the guy who did the health check flagged the warning to the service manager he apparently just said to leave it it's fine as it goes off again!! Gave me a nice cup of coffee though!!

What I can't understand is why they unplugged the height sensor when doing brake pipes, it's nowhere near and not connected to anything they would have to remove to do the job... Rolling Eyes Pete

Who knows unless it was a bit loose already and putting it on the ramp just disconnected it or they knocked it when doing the health check!

I've read it a few times and nor do I...

Putting it on the ramp can't pull the plug out, in fact it's very hard to pull the plug out even if you try, without removing the sensor first, knocking it out would be pretty tough too.... Oh well at least they fixed it.... Pete
