Terrible fake exhausts. Why???

Spotted these on the back of a 2010MY TDV8.

The standard exhausts were still visible, these tips looked like they were just screwed to the plastic under part of the bumper.

Quite possibly the most pointless modification ever?

It's been discussed on here before. They are from PowefrulUK.
At least you don't have to clean them!

Here's the culprits...

http://www.powerfuluk.com/products/range-r...odels.html

Twin Dummy Tailpipes
Range Rover L322 2002- 2010
At last the tip the discerning Range Rover owner has been waiting for - a pair of twin tail pipes that fit to the standard car with no modifications required.
These tips have been specially designed for the L322 and these tips don't actually bolt to the exhaust at all - they bolt to the rear cross member.
The standard exhausts on the L322 are all twin exhausts but the end of the tailpipe is way back under the car near the rear wheels and so are not visible.
With the end of the exhaust so far under the car any exhaust tip reaching the back of the car will need to be very long and thus heavy and prone to falling off and rattling.
This is why we have developed these "dummy " tips.
Other advantages of these dummy tips are :-
1) Easy to fit ( 10 minutes and 1 spanner - no need to even jack the car up )
2) No hot exhaust ends at the rear of car ( potential danger to children etc )
3) No rattles ( As the tips are bolted directly to the rear cross member they do not move )
4) No soot on the rear of your diesel car ( the real exhausts still point to the ground )
5) Does not effect vehicle warranty
6) No increased noise level
This listing is for a PAIR of exhaust tips and fitting kit.
The fitting kit includes a spacer so that it will fit cars with and without a towbar.
The fitting kit nuts and bolts are made from stainless steel so will not rust.
The Exhausts are also made from polished stainless and will not rust.
These exhaust tips will giving a true performance look to your vehicle.
We offer a no quibble money back refund even if these have been fitted to your car and you don't like them send them back for a refund.
Please note other sellers offering exhaust tips for the L322 are often selling Range Rover Sport exhaust tips and they don't show pictures of them fitted to the L322 - the reason for this is that they do not finish anywhere near the rear bumper - they finish well underneath the car.
Check out the kind feedback left by our many customers.
Fitting Details
Inspect both tips and locate the flat side on the tip - this is the side that points towards the center of the car
These tips bolt to the rear cross member - no drilling or body modification is required. Discovery 4 HSE

So..... Are they real then ?

Rolling with laughter

I can't see the point if they are not connected. At least those 4 spud guns on the back of the V8 petrols that people have on are actually exhausts and make a nice sound.

If it was a working installation it would be good enough for me to upgrade from the standard 5.0 'Charger exhausts. The standard ones do look a bit naff.

Simple reason why for me. The original tail pipes that came with the car were chromed and therefore rusting to the point if extinction, the rear bumper has oval shapes to accommodate oval tailpipes and as these oval tailpipes were free I couldn't say no Laughing

Unbelievable. From a side you can easily tell they are not connected to real exhaust in the L322. Stupid. 07 3.6 TDV8 Vogue
