The water is quite hard where I am so use the pre mixed screen wash, it has distilled / de ionised water mixed in it and I think it's kinder to the system.

Rear wheel arches

Just to add to these good winter points

I have sprayed Hammerite BLACK wax oil IN LIP & ON LIP EDGES of both rear wheel arches - with a new black protective rubber strip on both FFRR ready for winter
to help with spraying I usually add 10% white spirit to the Hammerite pressure sprayer can to help get consistent flow - hardens after 1 hour

again hope this helps with ideas

I used to stop, when cars had towing eyes, but now it's all too much and the AA just love to tow people, so I tend to let them get on with it. Unless it's someone I know or I'm flagged down, I just keep on going. And in this time of injury ambulance chasing "lawyers", is it wort taking a risk in a possible suit for helping someone?

It depends how attractive she is.

Dinitrol is better, needs doing far less frequently, doesn't wash off so easily, no need to mess about thinning it to get it to flow properly and it's far less attractive of dirt. It doesn't start dripping out of box sections for most of the summer either.

Waxoyl is cheap, i used to swear by the stuff until i discovered Dinitrol, never looked back.

Have to agree on that one, used to love Waxoil until I discovered the Dinitrol range of products, they also do a clear wax that dries but doesn't set, it's superb for under the bonnet where it's on show... Thumbs Up Pete

they do temperature resistant ones for under the bonnet and all sorts. It's a proper system, unlike waxoyl with is a bit of jack of all trades product.

The original POR-15 rust encapsulation paint is great for painting rusty metal like chassis rails and subframes.

I think the people who make it (Eastwood) have started using the POR-15 brand on other products too though, much like 'Finnigans' have used Hammerite on all sorts as a brand rather than a product. Eastwood stuff is all of the highest quality, but most of it is needlessly expensive compared to equally good rivals. There are only certain products they make that are really worth the money - POR-15 rust encapsulator being one of them.

I have just typed 'Gummi' into Google and the top site displayed was 'Gummi; the men only rubber only club'.

Thanks!

lol thats not the right kind of gummi top be rubbing on your door rubbers lol!!!!

PMPL what idiots pour boiling water onto a car window or anything on a car!!!

I never use the deice stuff as its horrid, instead half fill a kettle and boil it, top up with cold water and by the time you walk to your car the water has lowered quite a bit and if you cant pour it over your fingers without burning them then its too hot! Yes it still steams but the warm water method has done me for years and never cracked any glass. Helps get some heat into the windows and help demist a little but make sure you wipe it off before you drive off as it will only help drag down the temp when you start moving! Also helps soften the rubbers up to clear the screen quickly which de-ice will not do but rather dry the rubber outs.... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
