Dealers not interested ?

On Saturday I walked into a dealership in Surrey with my wife and kids. Was about 5:30 pm. Spent 15 mins looking around and actively looking at the L405 they had.

They had about 5 or 6 sales people all sitting at their desks, some pretending to be on phones or typing away on their terminals. Not one person came up to us or asked us if we needed any help, so we ended walking out without them taking any details.

Is this normal Land Rover etiquette?

At 5:30 on a Saturday - probably

I would expect most serious buyers to show up earlier & want to take a car out for a drive

I actually prefer to have a wonder around in peace rather than be pounced on as soon as I walk in. Due to the demand of these vehicles I think these salesmen can afford to be "cool" about it .

I believe you are “kind of left to your own devises” in most JLR dealerships... As stated above, “good etiquette” If you want to be pounced on by men in nylon suits!!! Go view a Citroen/Peugeot or a Vauxhall!!! Most will call you “mate” and tell you “how sick” their cars are!!! Shocked Just a bouts stopping short of wearing a baseball cap, backwards!!! LR sales staff tend to leave you alone unless you ask for help. Much better that way rather than having some pushy bloke in your face.

BTW Craig. Any idea where to buy those caps with the peak on the back? I can only find ones with the peak on the front. Confused

I think its 'sic'' and not sick ! lol.

I remember looking at an apartment and the young 'fashionable' agent kept calling it sic, so we walked out thinking it was a bad one ! lol.

Any potential customer should be greeted.
Salesmen should introduce themselves and at least say to ask for them if the customer has any questions. Previously..

Completely agree. I went to buy an XJ about a year ago but salesmen decided I needed space to view and only when I got back to my car and was getting in did a guy run out asking if I needed any help !!!!

Customer service at its worst I could have known everything about the car and just wanted to view or I could have been staring into a ditch and needed help / advice , unless they were mind readers then how would they know without asking ??

When I bought my RR a couple of months ago , I walked in , salesman walked out and asked if I needed help , I asked him to give me a few mins which he did and then we drove 5 RRs and settled on one.

Just my thoughts but if it is an LR salesman trait then how many sales are they losing ?? I spent 28 k on my 07 SE and while I appreciate a lot of you guys spent a lot more , for that money I expect atleast a " can I help you sir "

Maybe that's why there is so many Vauxhalls on the road and not so many RRs !!!!!!! 2015 4.4 AB
