Have you knocked the low box selector switch?
It will not engage until you are in neutral. Mine was a blue one! Smile

I get this occasionally, it seems to tie in with days when the 'Air Con' Puddle under the car is bigger. I am putting it down to water ingress in the wiring around the gear box.

I'm going to wait and see if it happens again now that I've had the car undersealed.

make sure you have not put the fuse in for towing ,very easy to do,wants you to select neutral so it can put transfer box into neutral for towing
fuse 37 in glovebox on early ones == ONLY FITTED FOR TOWING
just a thought

Wales 2003 Range Rover SE Td6 Zambezi Silver

I know this is an older post but it just helped me.

Took my FF in to garage to have locks and keys changed after spare was stolen, they told me it had been taken to a Landrover dealer to have new keys coded after fitting. When I picked it up I got the signal "select neutral" and then "slow down". The car seemed OK so I drove it home. Same thing happened when I started it again. I assumed the onboard computer was playing up with the new keys.

Anyway, before I took it back, I searched the forum and found this topic. Sure enough there was a fuse in the 37 slot, problem solved.

Anyway, thanks. This forum came to the rescue again.

I think I will still go back and speak to the service manager though. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE
