Replacing Sensors still!

Still trying to find out how to get to the rear sensors - my faulty one is the same as previous posts , rear left hand side - so possible wiring chafing?

Can you get to them by removing the rear bumper step trim? if so how do you remove it? I have been looking at it and it doesnt give any indication as how it is fitted or removed. CURRENT : FFRR 2012 4.4 TDV8

you have to remove the rear bumper to get them out, they clip into the bumper with 3 tabs. 2002 td6 vogue, 06 supercharged facelift

Replacing Sensors

I own a 2002 L322 and had all the rear sensors replaced without removing the bumper. The sensors were playing up and I was getting long beeps. I expected the bumper needed removing with a big labor bill for the privilege but to my surprise the garage that did the job had just purchased a very clever tool to remove them from the outside of the bumper which also kept the cost down.
The sensors now work perfectly on the rear and glad the PDC ECU was ok, I have left the sensors black plastic due to the coat of paint sometimes being the issue especially if moisture gets behind and bubbles the paint as it did which contributed to the failure.
I now need to do the front but it’s a different fault as they are all completely dead, no error, sound or clicking so could be the loom damaged so this WILL be a bumper off job……………oh joy……..just need to learn how to do that……… Big Cry

Just for some more info. If the wiring loom is damaged expect it to be on the drivers side front corner and it will need to be repaired as it is part of the main engine bay loom. Therefore lots of money... My money is on your ecu being defective but have the configuration checked to ensure the front sensors are active as they can be shut off manually. 06MY 4.4 V8 Autobiography Cairns Blue with Navy & Parchment Interior

So it’s possible the ECU can work fine for the rear but not the front, not sure the best way to test and eliminate whether it’s the loom, sensors or ECU although there is a 2003 ECU on e-bay for £50 with 17 hours to go...........tempting. In reference to the front being shut off manually this is assume would be done through the dealer computer as an option, this I am sure was not done as this did work when I first had the RR but then one day the front just stopped although I can’t recollect exactly when.

Is it possible to swap the front and rear leads into the ECU so I can test a known working out port on the ECU and plug in the suspect wiring to the sensors...........

You cant swap front/rear unfortunately. I thought of this but the plugs are moulded differently so you cant make this mistake.

Let us know what you find. I have the same issue with the fronts not working...

No, it switches both off or on. The HSE doesnt have front sensors but still has the switch etc.
