Heading for the snow

Hello everyone

I'm just on the journey to Austria ia via France and Germany. I have a new set of 19" Hankook Winters which are superb. The cabin is nice and quiet and they really show off the silky smooth ride of the Rangie. Chuffed as they only cost £120 per corner from the tinternet!

Stayed in a basic but clean budget chain hotel (Premiere Classe) in Epernay - fine for getting your head down at a bargain £30 for a triple room. Got a nice few days now in Bavaria planned with a better grade hotel at the foot of the mountains.

Looking forward to Christmas Markets, mulled wine and real apple strudel!

Although the car is running great, she did have a speed limited episode a few weeks ago (EGR needs replacing) and has an oil leak from the cooler (also being done before xmas). Hopefully it won't spoil the journey but most of my foreign trips end up at a dealership so we will have to see! Hope to post some white stuff when I get there.

We visit Fussen nearly every summer its a great little town and our "Gateway" to Austria via the golden triangle on the German side of the Alps.

Check out the Zugspitz Bahn, Ehrwald, Lemoos, Bibiwier and the heitiwanger see on the way through. (No Motorway Permit required in this area)

Roy, just a quick note for you to check when you get back... There is a temperature probe in the N.S. manifold that gives an EGR type issue and often mis diagnosed as a faulty EGR on the 4.4. Code P040D-00(2F) UNKNOWN... And your oil leak will almost certainly be the “O ring” on the engine oil cooler supply pipe. A very common problem on the 4.4 too... Often results in the dealer changing the EGR cooler at a cost upwards of £1500 for the part alone!!!

Both get mis diagnosed & changed by dealers on a regular basis at a cost of thousands!!! Shocked

Hope that might save you a few quid sir Bow down Thumbs Up

If you have time a visit to baron Ludwigs castle is a must. And take the cable car up Tegelberg.

They can do what they like if it's under warranty but thanks for the heads up - will need to try indie if the warranty doesn't cover it. Cheers Roy 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

This whole area is our favourite and well worth exploring including a ride up the Zugspitz the highest mountain in Germany although its half in Austria...
