In the absence of being able to stream music from my phone without spending silly money, this will do for now.

I use iTunes to create a cd mix then use iTunes to burn the cd.

What year is the car. My 2006 would not play mp3 tracks on CD's that I had burned so I'm using the iPod in the rear aux socket. I have a lo of mp3's burned to CD's so would be really useful if I could get the player to work.

It plays regular, or burned CD's without a problem. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

MP3 CD's are a bit temperamental, but should work OK

If you already play copies, then you're part way there as you have discs of a brand that it likes

IIRC all files need to be in the root - it doesn't support folders & it doesn't like spaces in the file names

Thanks Alastair. I believe mine are in folders, 1 for each album. I used windows media player to do the biz.

When burning MP3 discs I burn them as "data" rather than music discs. It was recommended to me. The only problem with MP3 discs I have found is they can be a bit slow in loading. John

Yep, data rather than MP3. No folders - that never works. And use decent blank CDs such as That's Audio (excellent media) or similar high quality stuff, i.e. not supermarket specials. The cheap ones are much more prone to skipping in my experience.

If you can be bothered, using a decent burning software package helps loads, and if you have the patience slow the burn speed down to 4x. I found vastly better results with Exact Audio Copy than I ever got with Roxio and it was really noticeably better audio quality if I was just doing a straight copy of a CD.

You CAN use folders, but only 1 level - I do this as you can only put a certain number of tracks in each folder (I think it is 20, exact details are in the documentation available on 'topix')

They do seem to be sensitive as to what discs are used however, i have burned some TDK ones no problem, but bought a new pack of TDK discs recently (from a supermarket) and the won't work at all  2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

I have plenty in my root and in folders and they work fine. Worth spending some money on 6 decent quaity re-writable discs. Tuff Discs used to be good and i still have one kicking about i use as they take a lot of abuseand marks that come from swapping them out saves wasting so many cd's when you change what you want to listen to.


I am however still surprised that to this day no-one has come up with a way to replace the CD changer with a HDD unit, ideally a nice SSD or USB based one for much quicker and easier updating. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

fitting the Land Rover ACM is easy, that gives you ipod connectivity, SD card slot, USB etc. It's just expensive.

Did any one ever tried playing MP3 CDs in the DVD player - my cars CD changer doesn't work. The cd changer keeps giving "disc error" message
