2011 RSE Retrofit ?

Ok so I found a 2011 VSE im quite interested in , its a bit more than I wanted to spend but is affordable. The only thing Im not happy with is the lack of RSE, or more specifically the dvd changer.

It has the "dvd enter" button on the dualview screen but no changer in the rear.

Can I use RSE parts from a 2007/2008 model ? Will it fully integrate ?

So the parts I can think of are 2 headrests, 2 lcd screens, rse module, dvd changer, IR transmitter, IiR headsets, remote.

Anyone have a cost effective place to pick all this up ?

I don't think there is a cost effective way to do it.

Do you really need the DVD changer ?

IMHO the money is better spent on a couple of iPads that can be used anywhere Thumbs Up

Do i really need the dvd changer - nah , do I want it - yeah . A lot of the reason for the changer is listening to some 5.1 recorded audio dvd's I have. I also end up watching a few dvd's of tv shows while waiting on people in the car . My current truck has a kenwood dvd unit in it thats great for this.

The rear screens themselves are more just to complete the package, I seldom have passengers in the back but it would be a nice feature when I do.

Im aware this will not be a quick £300 job , but if I could get it for under £1200 id consider it alright value

I would expect you could just ad the DVD changer in the boot to display on the front screen, without bothering to fit the rear screens.

Even second hand the bits are going to cost a small fortune, the breakers know how to charge for Range-Rover bits.

It's very complex to do. I did this on an 07 and you cannot buy all the required parts from LR, you WILL have to visit a breakers yard at some point. There is an overloom which runs the length of the car from the head unit to the rear NS cubby which requires carpets out and this can't be purchased as a spare part.

Even if you manage to collect and fit the parts it all has to be turned on in the car configuration which will require a high-end diagnostics tool such as IID Pro or Faultmate.

If you really must have it then I'd suggest finding a car which already has it fitted.

Or you could go down the Rosen route if you want screens in the rear, won't give you the DVD changer but (depending on which version you spec) the Rosen will give you two independant DVD players (one in each headrest).

You can route the audio through the car, not sure about 5.1 though.

I have Rosen's and I have to say for our application I actually think they work better than the OEM solution and I really wanted factory fit RSE when I was looking for the current car but my kids would never be able to agree on which DVD to watch and this way they can watch whatever they choose - or play the arcade games.

I appreciate that's not what you want them for but the silence they provide on a long journey is worth all the money I spent several times over.
My kids are usually disappointed when we arrive rather than the perennial " are we nearly..........."

A vote for Rosen from a previously committed OEM must be best advocate 😄 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ
