hi guys could really use your help here first i have a l322 v8 4.4 with starting issues jump in the car 4 weeks ago turned the key nothing just a clicking noise when turned to start, so first though was starter motor but firstly i joined ffrr did a lot of reading here to help me find the problem, after a while of doing this and that i got under the car put my hand on starter and found the clicking was coming from starter so i bit the bullet and bought new, took me about 6 hrs to change it, everything done but when i turned the key i was faced with error message transfere motor neutral back here to find oyut about it removed the transfer motor sent it to a friend to test all ok but during the test he left it at the 1 o'clock position so i set it to 11 o'clock rotated the cog until 11o'clock and replaced error message gone then error message about select neutral removed fuse 37 error gone. still just clicking removed the starter to test works perfect replace it followed the the two wires and tested them up to relays all ok could it be the inhibitor switch !!!! i am realy lost now and yes it is a new battery Big Cry

Sounds like inhibitor switch or ignition switch.

On the V8 the inhibitor switch is on top of the gearbox at the back of the engine. Easy to get at if you remove the plenum chamber (where the pollen filter is). .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

bad earthing will do that. Either the battery to body connection, or one of the other earthing connections - engine to body for example.

If you have high resistance in one, it makes the battery work hard to over come it, which drops the voltage and in turn that upsets the computers on the car.

The earth connections might be tight, but have corrosion under them, can only do the car good by checking and cleaning them all up.
