Glovebox opening

To open the lower glovebox I have to give the drop down door a firm tap before the switch will release the lock. The upper one works fine from the switch.

Anyone had this and what was down to resolve it.

TIA Regards
Mark

It may need a slight adjustment Orc you need to take the trim off underneath it to get at the bolts but it's ages since I done it L322 2008 vogue

Thanks Stan, too many little hideaways are a waste of space, my 2004 is as flash as I will probably get so I will avoid a lot of thee problems I see other forums. Still lovely Lady though. Thumbs Up

I have to hit the lower glove box anywhere from 1-5 times for it to release. Top one releases first push. One of those quirks...I'm sure it can be fixed but haven't messed with it. Not sure if the issue is with the button or the release mechanism inside the glove box. 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

glad I'm not the only one. It may well be the weight of the glovebox putting pressure on the lock mechanism. Regards

You have to tap it in ?
As if you're pressing in where the latch is before the latch opens ?

My lower latches open fine and the weight of the "lid" opens it .
So as suggested it I think yours needs adjusting .

Not got the same smooth operation with the top one though , you have to hook fingers on that and pull it down .
Not that we use it since the cd changer broke ) Laughing

^^

The top one I tap the button once and it unlatches...then I have to hook my finger on it yo pull it down.

Bottom I have to tap the button anywhere from 1-5 times and once it finally unlatches it drops by itself due to weight. 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

Hi all

Have just had a look at my glove box. took several taps to open it.

Check that nothing has fallen behind the box over the back edge. behind where the elastic strap is.

I found a small notebook {not the computer type) and a pack of "post it" notes.

After removal, the box now opens with a gentle touch on the button and the lid falls gently open. Very Happy

You never know it might be something as simple with yours.

Andy

Can you lift up and out (by the hinge) on the glove box like most other makes to remove it and see if anything is jammed in behind? 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

~Don't think its that easy to remove.

I was able to get my hand over the top at the back and remove said items.

I think you should be able to feel if something is there, although a pen or sutch like might be more difficult to detect.

Had a closer look at glove box as needed to get to fuse box. There is a retaining clip on the side of the glove box (nearest centre console) that you just have to squeeze gently (towards the box) and the box will lower giving access behind.
