One of the menus on the main dash (where that logo is) - I think Vehicle Setup - lets you choose - I have mine as blank, but recall there was an oval logo, a side view of a silver FFRR and a couple of other options.

Instrument panel is restricted to logo or infotainment info. Central display has choices of pic, clock etc. But not as far as I can tell anything uploaded by the owner.

forgive the thread resurrection, I am hoping you can help me out with some feedback on the reliability & longevity of the SD8 engine.

I'm looking at an RRS right now: 2014 model with 81,000 km. For the next 2 years it's worry-free as it will still be under Land Rover Care Plan until September 2019, but after that...

I don't want to end up with a vehicle that starts eating money if/when things go wrong after I start putting lots of mileage on it Confused

I take it the SDV8 doesn't eat cranks like the SDV6 does?

Any feedback on the reliability & durability of the engine would be most appreciated, thanks Thumbs Up

.

I've not heard of any issues with the SDV8 on an L405

Couldn't comment on the L494 RRS though - this is the wrong forum for that......

Thanks Alistair.

I know, but the guys in the RRS forums thought there'd be more feedback on the engine here, seeing that there aren't that many SDV8 owners on their side. Smile

@Naks - maybe best to do a search re the SDV8 motors on here. However the only problems Ive seen on here seems to be the oil built-up in the 2nd turbo if you don't drive it like you stole it (similar to your D4) and then oil leak in the valley (between the 2 banks of cylinders).

Btw, you now looking at a tractor instead of the SCV6?

Thanks, I've done a search, but not much comes up in the shape of problems, issues, etc., - surely a good sign.

What I have found is that NONE of the SCV6 vehicles in ZA were equipped with the rear e-diff, only the SCV8 & SDV8 were. Since I want to use the vehicle for off-roading, I might as well get one that can do it better Laughing

but I'm staying far away from the crank-eating SDV6 for sure Whistle
