i have the steps on my silver one. To me, with matt black, they accent/contrast the bright silver paint. and so do the flaps! like the silver wheels and black tyres...-each to their own. i think the silver lets you get away with a slightly dirtier car than say black and dark blue.
but i do use them, 1. to wash the roof etc, even though im quite tall, and 2. as i also have the roof bars, they are very handy. -and also the oldies like them to stop falling out as they leave the car. i stand on them both feet, and im 17 stone.
i also think a non stepped car, looks too high up..and i never go offroad...so they are there for good.
