L322 2012 Westminister Service

Hey Guys,

Recently acquired my new 2012 L322 Westminister and like any new car I purchase I start with a full service so I know what’s been done and what parts are in. However it seems that Landrover and Ford came up with a great idea of removing a standard sump plug. However I’m aware there is a Turbo drain plug so my plan is to do both, however when I acquired the car, it seems the oil level is showing overfilled (hence why I like to start again and know it’s done properly) until I buy a new oil extractor can I release some oil from the turbo drain plug to at least get it under the overfilled mark? My other question is once I drain the oil from the turbo sump, does the new oil when filling run over into the turbo sump again so the turbos wouldn’t run dry? Hope this makes sense.

Thanks again!

The turbo sump is just the drain and not the oil pickup. Unless it's giving you a warning that you need to remove some oil I'd leave it until you get an oil extractor. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Hey,

Thanks for your reply!

Could I not drain say .5L just to be safe, doesn’t give any warning unless I manually go into the level check and it then says overfilled.

Thanks

How long and how many miles since the last service? You can drain the main sump by removing the suction pickup connector if you are waiting to get an extractor? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Around 4k however I always start fresh so I know where everything’s up to, so I’ll be doing full engine, transmission, transfer case and axles. I did see about removing the pipe, but might be tricky to do that to get only a small amount out whilst oil is still gushing out lol
