[SOLVED] ULF Bluetooth IN - Nokia (6210) Car Kit OUT

A bit late to the party on this one, but when mjdronfield put his ulf module up for sale I bought myself an early Christmas present. My car is already kitted out with a non bluetooth Nokia car kit, and wired and buttoned up for the LR phone (I believe!)

Made a start today to strip out the Nokia stuff in preparation for the repin of the 54 pin connector and installation and pairing of the ulf module, following much advice from mjdronfield and other posts on this forum and the bimmernav stuff.

First off I had a dig around in the LH boot area, which was in a right old mess of wires and add-on kit following my efforts on a carpc a few years ago. This is what I found, which looks like all the phone stuff (although I have a nagging suspicion there is another lead in there somewhere with a 54 pin connector, as I remember stealing a pin from it.

and the connector (surprised to see it with the clip loader?)

Not sure what the Connect2 box is about but presume this is what makes the Nokia work with the car?

Next off I took to the passenger footwell. Side panel to centre console, footwell panel, A post lower trim, Dash End panel and A post upper trim (the one with the airbag badge) all removed. Groped about behind the centre console, following the wires from the cradle and found a connector box, and followed the wires round to the lower A post area. Disconnected the two wires running to the cradle and pulled the wires through to release it from the centre console. Then unscrewed the bracket. I then followed the antenna and microphone wires up the A post and along the headlining. Dropped the central light unit, and pulled through the mic lead. The antenna wire seems to be trapped between the screen and the roof, must have been tucked up there when the screen was replaced. Left it there to avoid breaking the windscreen seal! Here is what I have left:

Whilst I had the central light unit out I searched about for the LR mic connector and fitted the LR mic provided with the ulf module Thumbs Up (Sorry about the fuzzy photo)

So far so good. But I am unsure what to do about the cabling and connectors in the boot, and to be certain about the LR telephone cable being the right one for the ulf module. It has an antenna cable fixed to it. Hoping that some one has seen all this before and can advise. I will have a proper root about in the boot next weekend and do some proper cable routing/testing Rolling Eyes

Oh, I also made up a (table) sheet of cable labels, based on AJAY UK's pin assignment sheet, if anyone needs it.

If you look at the top of the first picture the large white connector 12 or so pins from memory is where the wiring for most of the phone prep loom connects to, all except the microphone and pairing button.

At a guess the wiring loom for the connects 2 box is connected to this white connector, I would un plug the loom that is coonected to that white plug and see what the bundle looks like

Here is a pic I did when I took the ULF out, so the black connector with the clip lock is the one....

Didn't find a red mushroomy dumbelly thing in there, though Laughing

I'll have to tackle the wiring again along with routing and head scratching Smile .

hi joe ,
I take it you have a pre facelift range,
did you know you could of made your old kit Bluetooth very easily,
all you had to do was buy a nokia ck-7w kit off the bay starting from £10, which comes with Bluetooth button,
swap the main black box (plug and play) position button where you want.

10 mins done

Thumbs Up 2007 tdv8 se ,stornaway grey

I'm pretty sure the screen won't display the sat nav map if you hit the voice control button on the steering wheel and say "show map" with the Nokia kit though...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Finally found some time and dry weather to "move forward" on this.

Did the pin swapping over (what a fuddle!) - two broke on the way out and two refused to come out, serious tug with pliers needed. And of course, when I previously stole a connector from this socket it would be one I needed. Any way followed the pinout swap to the letter.

Plugged it in........

Alarm went off and radio/screen came on........dur! had only unlocked the boot to work on the plug, not unlocked the car.

Unlocked the car, removed the plug, reinserted.

No alarm this time but radio/screen came on again. Went to start the car, ignition locked - oh heck!

Checked the Telephone section - no change from before.

Removed plug, and checked ignition, all OK car started.

So what is going on? Can anyone supply cable colours with numbers so I can check my pinouts.

I'll recheck my work on Sunday (something going on on Saturday with an odd shaped ball) .

Having looked over the colour chart I find some discrepancies with the pinout chart Crying or Very sad i have produced a table to show the original colour chart and pinouts against the pinout chart, identifying the differences

I have checked each wire I have against the colours on the colour chart and these all relate correctly, but with the pinout discrepancies I am now not sure of the way forward. Am guessing that the difference between original pins 24 and 34 is that they are both "Ground" so it matters not which one uses, so more concerned about the others. I tested new pinout 17 against new pinout 36 and did not get a 12v+ feed? Do we know the fuse number for the live feed?

I also attach a pdf with different sorts
http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/us...Sheet1.pdf

Any / all help and guidance much appreciated Smile .

I think it's fuse 22 if I remember right. Never used the colour chart or cross referenced it.....

You should only need a 12v feed, ground and an ibus connection for Telephone to appear on the screen.

Can't check wiring as I had it obviously..... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
