touchscreen display dim on startup

a few times now over the last 2 years , my display hasnt got to its full brightness on startup , especially if i havnt used the FF for 3/4 days..
i did find that after stopping and then re-starting again the display would go to its normal brightness..now this is ok if you do a short journey but on a long run it can be annoying and frustrating..

the solution is to use voice control to command 'display off' and then 'display on' and the display will come to its full brightness without you having to stop and re-start.. ... - .- -.

You can do an update which allows “nav on the move” etc etc Stan, i know yours is new enough to have that feature! But if you do an update to latest software (if indeed it will allow you to) then it will over write your software and if your issue is software related... Voila!!!

i have 'nav on the move' already Thumbs Up

but i dont think the dim screen is a software problem more that the lcd screen doesnt get its full power when starting... this is something that has only happened to me a few times over more than two years so its not a great problem... ... - .- -.

Mine too. But not often. I'll watch this with interest. I have the iid, so any instructions are most welcome. Cheers. Bow down

Me as well , I used to think it was the cold but clearly not the case here . Both cars have done it and it's very random so I just ignore it . Every year or so there is a post about it so it's not that uncommon but no one has ever got to the bottom of this . 2008 MY Supercharged

i dont think its a big concern Mike as [you say] it will correct itself , but by switching the display off using voice command ,the display comes back straight away to full brightness..

for those who want to do a software update then craig will probably explain where/how/who/when/what to do... Very Happy ... - .- -.

It could be to do with the auto light sensor that dims the screen, this time of year on these dull dark days especially if you have tinted windows the inside of the car can be pretty dark so naturally the screen will dim as it thinks its night time

it could be but my screen is brighter than that at night than when i get the dim screen...

i reckon its a power thing where its to cold and it doesnt get the kick it needs to start properly..i've left electronics in the FF for a few days during winter and the lcd screens on these tend to go dim or not work at all.. ... - .- -.

it wont be that as that dial controls the speedo/rev lighting and thats not affected when the screen goes dim...as it happens the lowest setting on the dial is still brighter than the screen when it has its hic-cup.. ... - .- -.

United States 2008 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Tonga Green

Have searched the forum for posts related to this, but no luck (yet) finding a definitive answer/solution. My 2008 HSE has developed this exact problem. It has a brand-new screen from the dealer (thank you, extended warranty) AND a software fix related to the system staying stuck on the Land Rover oval while it turns itself off and on every two seconds. That problem seems to have disappeared after the software fix — but this morning, dim again on startup. The truck is parked in a subterranean garage every night and it was 50 degrees Fahrenheit in Dallas this morning. Any further info on this problem?
