No quoting - trial

Hi all,

I am running a trial to remove the quote button from threads entirely, to see how we get on.

Before anyone gets annoyed, it is just a trial to see if it improves readability or not.

All other complaints should be directed to Stan Thumbs Up Laughing

The quote button is useful from a couple of points. It saves retyping the relevant passage and it distinguishes readily the quoted part. Makes it more readable. Removing it makes it less readable IMO. Confused

The caveat is that the quote should be edited to include only the relevant bit being commented on. Very Happy John

I think it's best to have the button. I'm quite able to do it manually, but for others it's not so natural, but aside from that, a key benefit to the use of the button is that emoticons are transferred correctly, so there is no tidying to be done by the poster (particularly if it's a long quote) - not always important, but having, for example "Thumbs Up Evil or Very Mad Rolling with laughter" left as-is in quotes can sometimes make them a pain to read if they're within the text. I miss the "quote" button, and wonder if there is a practical reason for it's omission, I do hope that it hasn't been converted into the the new "stars"feature for ipad Whistle

If it's speeding up the site then I suppose that I can learn to live without it, but how about a few more Emoticons to make up for it ..... after all the D3/D4 site has way more Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

The intention is to prevent unnecessary quotes, not all quotes (I assume). Thumbs Up

I think the q button is very useful but assume there must be a good reason for its proposed removal.

Not beyond the wit of man to work around it.

If it means a more stable site for all then so be it. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus
