Best cleaning products

Never really been a car cleaning fan but having spent on this one I should really try harder. What Products would you recommend.

It's a bit like saying you fancy buying a nice bottle of wine - or treating yourself to a new watch.....

There are people who will spend what I would consider to be obscene money on cleaning products......

Personally, I use autoglym shampoo, a clay bar & Swisswax Shield - and some poorboy wheel protector.

That for me is a reasonable level without getting into diminishing returns territory.

BTW - could probably have gone in the general General section - you clean an L405 just the same as an L322 Whistle

As you will have already realised, everyone has their own preferences. Having spent a small fortune and lots of time on products from all different makers, I have settled on...

Mequiars Detailers Shampoo Plus, Bilberry Wheel Cleaner and Autosmart Topaz Hybrid polish. Good, thick lambswool mitt for cleaning, micro-fibre drying towels, micro-fibre polishing towels, Autiglym Applicator Sponge for polish and depending on the hardness of your water, I can't recommend a Daqua water filter highly enough.

I use the large size with the mixed resin because the water here is 314-331 TDC; the filter brings it down to zero which means the car can be rinsed and left to dry, even in bright sunlight, with no 'water' marks.

I also use Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer on my wheels which works really well at stopping brake dust adhering. At some stage, now I have a black car, I will have to experiment with Poorboy's Blackhole or Chemical Guy's Blacklight but will always top off with the Autosmart because the protection it gives is superb. In my view, anyway.

Edit: all the potions and lotions I use are available in either concentrated form and/or large size 'bottles' which makes them cost effective too.

I used to do pre-wash foam, double bucket / grit traps, microfibre towel.

I no longer have the time, and I take it to the local Poles.

If you ever want to clean your leather, I think Leatherique is excellent.

Use the rejuvenator first followed by the pristine clean. It needs hot conditions and 24-48 hours to function ideally. Loads of car enthusiasts use this stuff
