If they are bigger than 10 mm diameter in total then they can't repair the screen, it's a replacement..... So if they are anything more than a spec it'll be replacement Whistle which worked well in my case cos there were a few dead zones in the heated screen Whistle

I'll take some pics and see what you think. I may also possibly have some dead zones...

Re the wind noise I'm getting, I'd appreciate if it someone could compare the top seal of their 2003-2004 L322 with mine andlet me know if mine looks right. I'm booked in for a fix on Saturday afternoon).

There are no other L322 around here for me to compare.

Grateful for an answer to this before I go to the windscreen place, i.e., does the rain-sensing work when the Rangie is not moving? I see that the wipers change from high speed to low when one stops, and from low speed to intermittent when stopped.

But does the rain-sensing stop when the car is stopped?

I simply don't recall whether it did with the original screen. The sensitivity control doesn't seem to do anything and I can't test the rain-sensing when driving as there is no rain. (38 deg C today, 44-45 deg C on Friday-Sunday, again with no rain.)

It rained last night but I was busy helping out at a training course, today the sky is clear. Mad Ron B. VK2OTC

Rain sensing should work when stationary, if nothing else you should 1 sweep when you turn them on.... mine did have a little fit and went constantly to start with, but I think that was condensation cos it started to work properly after 3 minutes of 'Program' defrost. Also that top rubber don't look too cleaver, they didn't clean the old glue off the frame very well.... to fix that properly it's screen out Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Rolling Eyes Surely if you have rain sensing wipers that only work when moving, can't you wet the screen, with the engine on and then pull away, if the wipers work then they should wipe.... I did remember reading somewhere that the wipers were speed sensitive and stopped when stationary............mine never did Rolling Eyes Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I'll give it a try - but it's 8pm and 35 deg C so the screen will dry before i get very far! I've just come in and I'm wet with sweat after watering the garden.

I can't see my missus hanging out of sunroof with a watering can. Knowing my luck, the Highway Patrol would go past and grab me. Ron B. VK2OTC

If the misses isn't game can't you borrow a child? most 10 year olds would jump at the chance to do something silly like that.. and don't they have either quirt roads or empty car parks down under? Rolling Eyes Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I don't know any children.

Car parks are considered road-related areas and are covered by the same road rules as a street. The HWP cruise around here quite a bit. Even the general duties cops don't like the HWP and call them "cockroaches".

Fines are quite high and demerit points are heavy. 13 points and the licence is gone. I've accrued 4 points thus far.

Passenger not occupy seat with seatbelt (16 years or older) $325
Drive with passenger 16 years or older unrestrained $325 3 points
Drive with part of passengers body outside window/door $325 3 points
Drive with passenger in/on part of vehicle not enclosed $325 3 points
Drive with passenger in/on part of vehicle no seatbelt etc $325 3 points Ron B. VK2OTC

This State really has quite high fines for traffic offences and they hate speeding but they aren't as hot on speeding as in Victoria with their hidden speed cameras and a leeway of 2-3km/h over the speed limit. Speed cameras here have to have warning signs before them. Fixed cameras have 3 warning signs about 50-100 metres apart.

These fines are for a car or 4WD. Trucks and bus fines are much higher.

CLASS A MOTOR VEHICLE
Rule 20 Exceed speed 10 km/h and under (other than a learner or provisional licence)* $114 1 point
Rule 20 Exceed speed 10 km/h and under (learner or provisional licence)* $114 4 points
Rule 20 Exceed speed over 10 km/h (other than a learner or provisional licence)* $265 3 points
Rule 20 Exceed speed over 10 km/h (learner or provisional licence)* $265 4 points
Rule 20 Exceed speed over 20 km/h* $455 4 points
Rule 20 Exceed speed over 30 km/h* $872 5 points
Rule 20 Exceed speed over 45 km/h* $2,350 5 points (and usually on the spot suspension of licence). Ron B. VK2OTC

The rain-sensing seems to have resolved itself.

It works when the car is stopped and the engine isn't running.

I've cancelled my appointment for tomorrow even though I still have the wind noise issue. I wouldn't expect some poor beggar to work on my car in an non-air conditioned workshop when the temperature outside is +45 deg C/113 deg F. Today is forecast to be only 44 deg C.

I saw an L405 at the local hardware store and had a look at the top of the screen and it didn't have a trim strip so it was no help. Very Happy

Update, it's warm outside:

Anybody know if pitting can be successfully polished out of a windscreen?
Mine's covered, all tiny

Interesting on the pictures of the top seal, I have recently found drips down the front of my center console and 2 streaks on the inside of the windscreen, managed to trace it to where the windscreen meets the body at the top, Ive noticed quite a bit of wind noise too at motorway speeds (60-70 mph) had a look at my seal and it isn't as bad as yours P38arover but has certainly shrunk back a bit Shocked

I have my headlining out at the moment for a retrim and can see a lot of bodged sealant on the inside (will try and post photos tomorrow) looks like a replacement has been badly fitted, drivers side heated screen doesn't work either so may find a nasty chip somewhere soon Whistle
