According to my owners manual, seems the button for Auto stop start is missing? I believe manual says it should be under active speed limiter button

So does this mean I have no auto stop start? (not that I want to use it, but just curious)

Does everyone else have an auto stop start button under the ASL, particularly in the SDV8?

Think stop/start is only on the 3.0L diesel. Mines 4.4 SDV8 and doesn't have it. The handbook covers all models so will list it even if you don't have it if I remember correctly. Steve

Yes, there is no stop/start on the V8 'wood burner' in L322 or L405 as yet.
However, the clever 8 speed ZF auto does disconnect 70% of drive at idle in drive, a significant fuel saving over old style autos
As you will want the A/C running and I will just want to stay warm, we are not missing out on much just now!  2012MY Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 Vogue...now gone!

Just to clear a couple of things up. On my SC the stop/start doesn't mean the climate control stops working. The heated seats continue to blow warm air, the cooling/heating system blows at the same temp, the lights stay on etc. What is noticeable is if the weather is hot then the A/C will trigger the engine to restart whilst stationary in traffic at shorter intervals to re-compress the refrigerant etc.

I believe the latest "ad-blu" SDV8 has now got stop/start.

Now the debate about NVH and does it make any difference in the real world....that's elsewhere on the forum.

Agreed. The only part of the car I could do without is the stop/start mechanism. First thing I do after starting the engine is turn it off.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression the AC/heater etc would stop blowing cold/hot air after 30-45 seconds, as stated on another forum, but again something else Ive learned today.

I've driven (and developed!) a lot of cars with stop start. In heavy traffic and in a 'normal' ambient it can be very effective.
On either side of the thermodynamic spectrum and in med/light traffic it's usefulness is less efficient.
The car will sense if it's running low on volts, heat or cold and restart as required. In the currently frozen north or 'tropical' Sydney that's quite a bit of the time!
The stop/start is product of the current emissions test, which car makers are very good at developing cars to pass. The urban cycle has stops in it in 20 deg amb conditions. Obviously having a stopped engine in that part of the test uses less fuel, which gives a better consumption figure, which lowers the tax on the car....which sells more cars.
Whether the car is actually more efficient in the 'real' world is debatable, but manufactures develop cars to pass tests, be they fuel saving or safety.....sometimes the 'improvement' only works in a very specific set of conditions  2012MY Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 Vogue...now gone!

i would never buy a car that you couldn't turn start stop off in.

I think its a pointless system and has no real benefit, apart from slowing things down.

If you can afford to run a FFRR that does 12 mpg who cares about the little tiny bit start stop would possibly save, personally i think all these cars stopping and starting just makes them sound silly, i wo old rather listen to my v8 on tick over at the lights.
