So we are saying that they are, all be it rather fancy, the same as the old fashioned plungers, and they switch to earth when the door is opened...... so as you have said the most likely cause is the switch is full of water Shocked
But there is also scope for a wire to be shorting out on the body at the door hinge Thumbs Up

It can happen you know Whistle in fact that was one of the Landcruisers fav tricks, broken wires in the rubber cable guide, didn't half play havoc with the central locking and the windows Shocked Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Mine wouldn't shut up when I drowned the car, can't understand why... Whistle Whistle

I just unplugged the alarm unit under the bonnet and it lives in the bottom of my toolbox now... might put it back one day.... Rolling Eyes Pete

Hi,

One more thing to try!!

On our 'older' TD6 you can turn off the interior sensors (great when you have a pooch in the boot!) by wainting a couple of secs after the first press of key fob lock -then pressing the lock (ket fob) again. The red alarm light on the dash does a long flash when done correctly

If the alarm doesn't go off it's one of the interior sensors Thumbs Up

Simon

Whistle And they call it progress... they take a perfectly good system of the plunger switch which has at least 5 mm between the contacts, replace it with a micro switch that has a few hundreds of a millimeter between the contacts, don't water proof it, and put it in a car that's designed to go deep wading Shocked Me thinks that L/R is designing Chelsea Tractors, and has forgotten that they are marketing it as a go anywhere 4x4 Thud

Well I suppose that's progress, the only people to benefit from this are the manufacturers as they have a few less holes in the body and a smaller cheaper switch...... What was wrong with the Japanese way of sticking the switch in the B post ? as that is the only reason for fitting the switch to the lock that I can see.... it works way better that the old A post switch where you could get the door half open before it registered Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Well, so far so good. at about 8.30 this morning I gave the bonnet switch a good dose of WD40 and reconnected it. I then followed Craig's advice and gave each latch including the tailgate a generous splash of WD40, opened and closed the doors several times then gave each a good slam. I locked the car with the same fob (wanting to eliminate possible causes). After 2 and a half hours not a peep (or beep)! Not satisfied with this I gave the car a good soaking with the hose to simulate washing and locked it again. Here I am more than 5 hours later and still no alarm going off! Fingers crossed this is the end of the problem, at least for now, and my neighbours can get a good night's sleep. Thanks all for your help. 1982 SIII 88” diesel

When are you lot going to learn, Range Rovers Do Not Like Water....Full stop Shocked

Well if your going to look at the insides of the doors, and the wires in the rubber hose link at the front of the doors, I would start with the drivers door, as that one will have been opened and closed more times that any of the others. Might be nothing, but is the door lock flappy bit (that stops water when the fey is out) working, cos if there is a key sized hole in the lock, that would be a good place to get a lot of water in to the lock electrics Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Pete (Haylands) kept his in his tool box, so they must be detachable, the next time it goes off, in about 10 minutes Rolling with laughter , work out which part of the car is loudest... that's were you'll find the blighter.. and unplug it Shocked that should stop it's gallop Wink ....although I'd make sure that the bloody thing was turned off before disconnection, and have something to hand to muffle it Whistle only some alarms don't half get the hump when you disconnect them and they have a nasty habit of shouting about it for a while... maybe a coolbox and a couple of pillows Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
