Lost OEM LR lugnut wheel lock/key - need a replacment

Soooo yea. Not a very proud moment. Was going to swap out my other front air strut this weekend and I cannot for the life of me find the key.

I have a LR OEM locking lugnut set. I'm assuming the dealer has a set of skeleton keys as they had to remove my wheel to do the brake recall and I never told them about my key in the trunk.

Question is...is it possible to buy another key? Is the dealer an option/only option? I'd rather avoid the dealer so I don't get raked over the coals. My set has about 6 different numbers on it so I'm not sure which one is the part specifc number for this set. 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

Locking nuts are a complete pain - the only person they ever inconvenience is the legitimate owner - any half decent wheel thief would have a universal key.

Certainly in (most of) the UK, wheel theft is really a thing of the past - and even if it wasn't, getting a FFRR off the ground is no easy task.

I'd take it to a dealer, have them remove the locking nuts & replace them with regular ones - can't be more than 30 minutes work even at main dealer rates !

I have 22" wheels in the summer so they could entice people to do bad things...but if they see a lock it could deter them. That's worth it enough to own a set...for piece of mind.

I'd like to get/buy a replacement key without getting hosed at the dealer. Just not sure if there are other options 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

As Alastair said above if you can get a Range aRover off the ground you won't struggle to get a wheel off , just ditch the bloody things regardless of which wheels you have on.
A universal key is actually easyer to use than LR fidelty locking lug nuts , it's ironic that you might be using the deadly jack at the same time really 😜🤕💩 2008 MY Supercharged

They can probably order one from the VIN number - so you maybe able to get a price from them over the phone

I bought them off ebay...after buying the car. They are OEM LR set. There are about 5 different part numbers on there...trying to find the identifying # to at least search for it. 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

In the UK, locking nut/lug removers are readily available and any wheel thief prowling the streets with a floor jack tall enough for a FFRR would certainly be armed with a set.

May be different over there due to the higher number of 4x4 trucks.

If you don't have any record of the key number, then it's almost certainly main dealer time - but if they are not a standard fit in the US, even they may not be able to help you very much......

You could also try Dan and see if there is anything he can do from a photo of the lug pattern.

Over here a lot of the garages have the different wheel nut keys to hand as it save messing around looking for the cars original at service time.... it might pay you to talk to a specialist.... you never know.... then if you really have to have them get another set, note the number on the key and order a spare to keep in a safe place Thumbs Up

Or take it to a place of multiple wheel nut keys, and get them to identify the key number and buy 2....just make sure that you don't get a puncture in the meantime Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I believe I have figured out the part number. It's the one that begins with "VU"..I can find complete sets but not just a key. I just PM'd Dan 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

Before you all get carried away talking about universal tools!!! It would appear most of you have forgotten universal tools DO NOT work on 322 locking wheel nuts!!!

The lockers are made of two halves and the top is made to break and spin to thwart would be thieves! Once you hammer on a universal tool there is only going to be one outcome!!! & thats an expensive one having a firm come out to drill them using diamond drills as the lockers are super hard!!!

You have been warned!!! Once again Rolling Eyes

Find a main agent with some spare removal tools & ask them to try them, then order the replacement... Simples... Thumbs Up

Any potential thief would need to carry a few ton of bricks to put under the car too.

Alistair. There enlies the problem. Apparently the lug nut has a letter on it but when it's fastening down the wheel you can't see it. The OEM package it came with has none of those key part #s on it 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC
