03 L322 battery drain

Hi
Have recently inherited my fathers 03 L322.
He had owned the car for the previous 10 years, and when left for more than about five days the battery would run flat.
Over the last few weeks I have experienced a flat battery after an hour and a half run.
On the back of that I have purchaced a new battery and this seems to slowly drain down as well.
An AA patrolman mentioned that there was a fault on these early models but it should have been resolved when main dealer serviced.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Thanks

Have you checked what voltage your getting when engine off, then on tick over and under load?

should see 12.6 when the engine is off, and 14.5 when charging.

I've just bought an 03 L322 as well.
Previous owner had disconnected the sat nav unit in the boot as it was draining the battery. Give that a shot.

Sat nav can spit the dummy and the CD will be continuously ejected only to be re inserted by the over and over again.

Do a search on Final Stage Resistor FSR.. most common cause of depleted batteries....

The gps dvd's also forget to turn off, open the passenger side boot cubby, turn off and lock the car and after 16minutes the light on the front of it should go out, view it through the window as if you unlock or open the car it will switch back on....

Good luck... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

Do the headlight wipers work - if they don't park properly or one of the motors doesn't run that will also cause a battery drain when the ignition is switched off as the power feed stays open. Current Fleet:-

My battery drain was caused by water ingress to the DSP amp - worth pulling the conectors out and have a look.

The number 1 cause for my battery drain on my 03 TD6 was the aftermarket Nokia HF set, which was draining 120ma on its own (unused).

The number 2 cause is the immobilizer unit which is draining 30-40ma more than it should. The authorized dealer said they could try to re-flash it, but if it fails a new unit would cost 1200 euros.

Now the drainage in sleep mode is 60ma.

The Amp in the back can cause battery drain, it sometime will not go to sleep, there is a company on EBay that you take your amp out send it to them and they put all new software in and Guarantee it for life.
