Automatic time update

Am I being thick, or is it the case that my L405 Autobiography does not auto adjust for daylight saving time?

Just checked and it's 2016, not 1986 Shocked

For info,

Auto GMT/BST time adjust:
£100 Tom Tom Yes
£50 Central Heating controller Yes
£6 Clock from Lidl Yes
£93,000 FFRR Nah

My wife's 7 year old Merc does it seamlessly. If it ain't broken, fix it till it is.

it only takes a few seconds to do it manually...not sure about the L405 but on the L322 you can see the hands move on the clock.. ... - .- -.

Alas you can't see the hands moving on the 405 .... as there is no clock. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I know it's dead easy on an L405, just touch the digital time display but I'm just amazed that it doesn't do it automatically, especially when travelling abroad.

Maybe it's a Windows 2.11 system Very Happy If it ain't broken, fix it till it is.

For auto-daylight savings time, your car needs to know exactly where it is (not all jurisdictions do DST), and when to do it (not everyone does it at the same time). It's fine on a computer or phone that regularly has an Internet connection, but a bit more problematic on a car. Knowing you have to do it manually is a less serious problem than a car that does it on its own and gets it wrong. Resetting the clock in my old Honda was a huge exercise in frustration. At least in the L322 it's fast, simple and easy. I would hope the new ones aren't any harder.

Daylight saving is not as common as you would think and would require the car knowing precisely where it was at all times . 2008 MY Supercharged

Why can't the radio data be used? Isn't that how my £10 clock radio does it? Drives:

Scotland 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Last October I set the time using the touch screen. The time stayed fine for a few hours then suddenly went to 12 O'Clock. Stayed like that for a few minutes and then reset itself to the correct (updated) time.

Can only think it was to do with the GPS resetting it. Confused

Will be interested to see what happens tomorrow. John

I don't think we use RDS data over here. Also, even in the Range Rover and not wilderness roving in the old Disco, I can easily get out of range of all radio and mobile signals. (BC = lots of mountains + few people.) In fact, just got a HAM radio licence for safety when there's no other means of communication.

I just thought some more about this. Actually, GPS + satellite radio (which has data) should be able to sort that out. Generally, satellite radio is continent wide, so that's not a huge number of providers to work with. It does require a subscription, but new car dealers often throw in a year.
