Thanks - a frozen lock would be great - I can get the silicon spray out this evening (door seals need some too) - here's hoping !!

Correct diagnosis - a frozen lock which had defrosted by this evening - big relief !!

this frozen door handle in a pain..this morning i had to go to the hospital at 4.30am and the bloody handle was frozen so i had get in through the passenger side..not a good impression for a RR.. ... - .- -.

yep this was what i experienced. I suspect the manual locking was just enough to jolt it free but then it refreezes. I was sent down the cable path at rr.net or what ever its called. Maybe its just the latch needing some vaseline.. Handle is crotchy so i'll do the cable regardless.

found and solved the freezing problem...its the mechanism at the back of the door latch which gets frozen..water runs down the inside right onto this mechanism and causes the problem...you need to dry the area with a hairdryer and cover it with silicon lubricant and for extra protection put some grease or similar on it....the proof in the pudding will be tomorrow morning when i test the door... ... - .- -.

Cheers scarey that happened to me at 1.30am this morning going to pick the daughter up opened door , door would not lock once inside had to drive 3 miles holding a door closed from the inside .........

i was getting in and out via the passenger door and that wasnt easy for an old git like me...

i'm convinced its a design fault, there's a runner that comes right onto the gubbins and douses it with water... ... - .- -.

My mate gave me this to try so time will tell tomorrow ....... sprayed this in the door lock just now

Also meant to say that pfege stuff for the door seals work ,

handy to know re the 'pledge' ...spraying in the door lock wont work mick [tried it ], the lubricant cant get to the back of the lock where the water accumulates ... the only way is by taking the door card off and getting in that way.. ... - .- -.

The spray somehow worked scary, -7 this morning opened the door fearing it would not lock when i closed it , but the lock worked fine , do for me ........

It will only freeze if there is water in there in the first place - and there shouldnt be.
