Hi all, just bought a 2007 TDV8 SE about a month ago. The range rover is perfect and i love it, but there is 2 very small issues annoying me.

1. The bottom part of the boot , seems to have a mind of its own, when i open the top part its a guessing game to weather when you press the button for the bottom bit to open if it will or not. sometimes it works 10 times in a row, then sometimes not for ages.

2. The reverse camera, you can see when you go into reverse the camera goes on but its just black , you can see it flickering a bit so its obv working but no clear view. It was working up until 6 months ago the owner told me.

Just to let everyone know , even though I own a 1999 defender , I'm a total rookie with range rover. And a total rookie in general with mechanics, so go easy and idiot proof solutions lol

Now brace yourself for calling it a Jeep....

Does the motor come on when you press to release the lower tailgate, or does nothing happen? Ie, is it the latches or the button?

Sorry lads , I'll edit the post lol. When it does work the you can hear it when u press the button. But it hardly every does, the latches seem fine as there well greased up. Seems to be the button

'Sounds like the actuator is in need of replacement. Had same symptoms with my D3. £45 and 20mins work and all was well again. Not sure how much actuator will cost for RR but someone may have one lurking in a box somewhere or you could try Dan at Duckworths.

More likely to be a dodgy switch, they are not exactly in the best place to ensure that water doesn't sit on/in them.... and we know how good the L/R seals are

Firstly I reckon I'd be popping off the plastic trim cover that hides the switch, and just try it directly, with out the rubber cover... it might have gone hard... and they are less than a fiver to change You read it right If I'd have typed £5 you have thought that I'd missed the 0's off and reckon on 50-500

From what I remember the switches aren't that frightening to buy... £40 springs to mind... but I'm probably thinking of a wiper blade  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Another thing it may be worth trying is to check the lock mechanisms are clean and lubed up, you can try WD40 initially but if it works use something more permanent. Another way to check if it's a mechanical 'friction' issue is to push on the lower tailgate (towards the front of the car) a little and then press the button. Mine was doing similar and some white lithium grease sorted it for the remaining 3 years I had the car.

The reverse camera is probably faulty- Think up until 2009 they have a seam around the casing, I replaced mine with a 2010 one to get the yellow lines (needs a new holder and moving slightly) IIRC user 'JustinP' took his apart and dried it, cleaned the board with contact cleaner spray and re-sealed.

Hi

I had a blank screen on mine - Try the fuse (rear one in the boot) It's a 5 amp, I think postion 12 - I just removed all the 5 amp ones till I found one that had blown.

Regarding the boot lid - If it unlocks by pushing the boot forward (as mentioned above) you may be able to adjust the latches on either side -I had to adjust one side of mine for it to latch properly .
