2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Epsom Green

I washed mine as per my previous post, a surprising amount of dirt came out of them.
Once dry they performed better but not totally as good as I hoped for that last little bit.
Once Mr Sheen got on the case he put them back to super fast recoil plus add a nice fresh smell!
Cheap repeatable fix Thumbs Up
Obviously it won't fix a worn return spring or frayed belt but worth trying first before replacing.

+1 for Mr Sheen, really got the mechanism springing back to life! Currently on offer £1 per can at Tesco. Tom

any tips for how best to wash & dry the belts without removing them from the car? (and we don't have a wet vac)

I've got a can of AutoGlym Silicone Spray waiting to use on them once I've cleaned the belts...

You have to be very careful washing seatbelts, leave any detergent in them and it can lead to them rotting, you won't know about it until they give up just when you need them... The makers say, wipe with a damp cloth and don't use any detergent etc...

Follow the link on the last page and for about £120 you can change both front ones for new... Pete

I marked the actual areas used with clothes pegs top and bottom ( pointless doing more) then used warm soapy water with a nail brush hanging outside the car, where it couldn't be done outside I did over towels.
When done fasten belt as though your driving and leave to dry, don't retract until dry either.

I used to use Mr Sheene but found cheap silicone spray easily out performs same in how long it lasts, you pays your money and makes your choice I feel. Many thanks
Paul

I have done the leave in water and brush wash. I have done the Mr Sheen and Silicone too...but drivers side is really slow now and I think it's time to get a new one. Did we establish if there is one to get, CTC's post with a part number?

Is this a reasonable DIY job? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

On Tuesday I pulled out the belt and pegged it (as per video) soaking it overnight in warm water with a mild detergent. Lifted it out (water was mingin) and used warm clean water for a further 4 hours. Then wrapped in towel and left for two days.

I have just coated the belt with Mr Sheen and wiped it.... Shocked Shocked Shocked

Like new. Never did that last time.... Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........
