Tempted to join the gang!!

Hi All,

Great to see such an active forum discussing these great machines.

I have been looking into my next car for a few months. I have always wanted the FFRR since they launched, and can just about stretch to it at the moment. I guess I would be at the 'bottom end' of the market, so looking at 2013 cars, at about 55-57k. I have seen a reasonably nice looking one in Black, a Vogue, V6 diesel and considering travelling north to view it (4 hour drive I suspect!).

When buying a car shouldn't be asking this question, a very boring question, but how do we think depreciation may look over the next 9-12 months? I notice private sellers in today's market are selling (or trying to) at dealer prices, so not much around at 'bargain price' and I suspect that values will remain strong. Any experiences of trade-ins or private selling? How easy to sell one of these on?

I absolutely agree that private sellers are trying to sell at dealer prices therefore get one from a LR dealer and get the proper warranty . Thumbs Up

As your looking at 2013 models you could easily negotiate a two year LR warranty for peace of mind .

Thanks, I did view that thread. Looks like mid 50s is the bottom of the market at the moment.

Regarding buying from dealers, the one I have seen online and takes my fancy is actually with a Bentley dealer. Last service was done by them, which I am trying to assess if could be a problem for resale.

Options wise, still confused, I think the Vogue has most things I would need, is heated steering wheel standard?

This one has the pan roof (sliding one they tell me) and AFS. Not sure about High Beam Assist, which is something I did want.

Fascinating to read that you consider a 2013 car as "the bottom end" of the market. Laughing Thumbs Up

Apologies, I hope my post did not come across as arrogant! It is definitely not bottom of the market - and for me, will be the most expensive car I have ever bought.

What I meant to say is bottom end of the L405 market / price bracket!

362bkr - Adaptive cruise is nice to have, but I do not want to spend a lot more than this, and going for an SE with nice colour combo is not going to be doable. Key to me is not losing too much money over period of a year or so.

As I understand it, it is LR policy that any LR bought from an official LR dealer and that is no older than five years old, a two year LR warranty is included as a matter of course. From what I can gather, vehicles that are given third party or dealer warranties have 'escaped' the LR system at some stage for reasons various.

I think I am right in saying that with the latter, a customer can pay for a LR inspection and have the vehicle included into the system again......something I read recently on another post. The amount of £700 comes to mind......ergo, not definite!

From what I understand residuals are expected to be strong for some time. Both the FFRR and the RRS have been doing well since launch, if you look at the used market for the previous models they have also been buoyed mostly by renewed interest in the brand (IMO). I expect LR will continue to move things on over the next couple of years and I don't see the brand image dipping any time soon. I would say a <£60k Vogue is not a bad place to put your money, you'll lose money for sure, but I doubt it will hemorrhage, for that vehicle I would bank on £5-7k of depreciation per year tailing off a little after 5yrs.

For just a bit more you could find yourself in a new one as there are some cracking finance deals out there. I managed to secure 5.9% APR on a loan which will be 2 points better than LR approved used (if you go down that route). PM me if you want details.

This is the car:

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ad...;logcode=p

It is a dealer with a 12 month warranty, which they say I can use at any VAT reg garage local to me.
Let me know thoughts. Anything major missing on the spec. The sheet says LESS Heated Steering wheel, but apparently it does have it. Is this standard?
