Another Rain Light Sensor query

New owner, trawled through the previous posts, blah.....

2012 TDV8 Westminster.

Switch lights to 'Auto' but they always go straight to dipped beam, and not side-lights. Also, with wipers on 'Auto' they just work as if on intermittent. So from previous posts I've guessed it's the light/rain sensor, but I may be proved wrong.

After taking the rear view mirror cover off to see what sensor it is, it's not the usual one people mention with a YB prefix, my part number is 8X23-17D547-AE D3LOA. (Picture below)

Ordered one from LR, £57:50 inclusive.

Anyone know if I need to remove the whole mount on the screen or will the new one be a doddle to replace?

Should I disconnect the battery to 'pair it' with the car?

Any advice/tips gratefully received. Wink

Haven't got auto lights on mine but had loads of previous cars with them and never had one that turns on just side lights, side lights are for parking, head light are for driving....

Got auto wipers and the sensitivity is adjustable with the stalk, on maximum sensitivity they always start on intermittent and wipe the screen as much as is needed, they go to full on and even double speed if the rain gets very bad....

Sounds like yours is working how it should be...

It's always a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on electrics but there is no pairing or learning involved, it's just a sensor... Pete

Cheers Pete,
I expected the small LED pips (DRL's) to be the sidelights on Auto:

then the dipped beam to come on once the ambient light has lowered:

Hopefully these pictures will explain better.

I might be able to help here

The led's do NOT act as side lights as far as I'm aware - I had to use old faithful IID to set the lights to scandinavian DLR to accomplish this. Only my LED's come on all the time (as DLRs) but the rest of th lights act as normal

If you have an IID it might be worth a check or its a dealer config update I think.

[edit to this] I believe the other setting is canadian DLR's which may cause the side lights to act as DLR's instead of the LED's but can;t confirm it at the moment. Ash

Thanks Ash,
Much appreciated. That's how I'd like my lights to be so need to find someone with an IID tool local to me.
Think I'll be starting another thread later in my quest, haha.
Thanks again,
McFly.

Thumbs Up

Someone else's iiD tool can't help you I afraid , the Headlight options are in the car configuration files and that function is VIN locked to each tool or you find someone with an iiD pro . 2008 MY Supercharged
