Non-service service jobs

Our 4.4 TDV8 will be four years old in a couple of months with less than 40,000 miles. It has a complete LR service history which I will continue to keep the warranty but is there anything I should consider having done that the service wouldn't cover?

For example, should I have the oils in the diffs, transfer box and gearbox changed?

Anything else I should be considering age/mileage related out-with servicing i.e. any pre-emptive/good practice maintenance jobs?

How long do you plan to keep it for ?

No harm in changing the oil in the diffs & gearbox, but you won't get anything back for it if you sell the car - really just for your piece of mind.

Keeping it for a good while.....likely for a few years at least, which is why I am looking at preventative maintenance.

Two jobs I would consider for peace of mind :-
1) check back of engine for oil leak out of turbo oil pipe (rubber O ring problem)
2) check and lubricate linkage mechanism for turbo air change over valve. ( they stick due to lack of use and build up of road grit/gunge.

Thanks, guys. So far the list is:-

1. Diff oils
2. Gearbox oil and filter
3. Check turbo pipe for leak at war of engine
4. Lubricate linkage for turbo air hangover valve

Should I consider changing turbo/intercooler hoses yet? Other hoses?

Thank you, Stan.

This reminds me of that Monty Python sketch.....ie an ever expanding list

1. Diff oils
2. Gearbox oil and filter
3. Check turbo pipe for leak at rear of engine
4. Lubricate linkage for turbo air hangover valve
5. Transfer box oil

Should I consider changing turbo/intercooler hoses yet? Other hoses?

I can see a trip to a certain member's garage in Gloucester with an overnight stay at a local hotel in my future.

I have just had the 4 short coupling hoses to the manifold plenum chamber replaced under warranty.
One had split, but I had not detected any loss of power ??

Technical bulletin LTB00523v2 details job.

@ Stan- Searching only threw up issues with hoses on the 3.6 but thought it worth an ask.

@ Baltic Blue- Thanks for that; on the list.

^ I had it in mind to give him a call; been looking at his website. I have already looked at hotels that area that allow guests to bring dogs......the four legged kind Whistle Once I have a list of suggestions, I will see if we can arrange something....the days are gone where I would make an ultra-early dash to get there and drive back the same day.

Craig is the expert on the Oring oil leak problem
He started the thread.

PS. Please PM me if you can recommend a good hotel local to Craig's.
I could be tempted to get a quote to change the Orings coupled to a trip to the area.

Remove all plastic covers covering brake pipes down nearside of vehicle including the wheelarch and liberally grease the pipes as these may not be seen on the mot but could fail much sooner than you think !
