Our td6 does about 17mpg just knocking about town 😭

Wish we'd bought a supercharged...

All of these mpg figures are under best conditions, sunshine, flat, no hills etc.

What do you get under normal driving?

I have a 4.4 TDV8 - This week I had a long road trip (app 1000 km)

2006 TDV8 :
I'm getting 17~20 mpg around town (less than 10 mile long journeys) & 25 ~ 27 mpg on a run.
I did see 29mpg very briefly yesterday when forced to "cruise" at 60mph for a while - lol.

Lots of cylinders & heavy car = bad consumption when the engine is cold !
Even our Discovery 2 manages to average 27mpg across short & long journeys - but 5 cyls rather than 8. Paul,

On my 2008 TDV8 I get around 17 - 20 on short journeys and around 25mpg on longer runs - never reached the magical 30 mpg.
i did a comparison with fuel brands earlier in the year and it doesn't make any difference whether I use Shell Vpower, BP Ultimate or just the regular - same mpg. What did make a difference though was filling the tank with Asda diesel - lost a few mog on both short and longer runs. For whatever reason, my car seems to run best (quietest) on Esso regular. 2017 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography

M25 essex /Gatwick. Steady 75 mph ish.
34mpg

Normally around and about 29 ish

Belting /late for ferry 25-27 mpg

TDV8 Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Some really impressive fuel consumption figures in here!

In our usual heavy congested city traffic, I've grown accustomed to 20L/100km or 12 US mpg or 14 UK mpg.

With highway driving, I get down to 11L/100km or 21 US mpg or 26 UK mpg.

Ours mpg’s are real gallons Rolling with laughter

As an aside I think the mpg results get better as the engine gets older .....can anyone else confirm this? Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. yes i would say so, swmbo has a td6 2006 we have had it since 2009 at 50000 miles if memory serves it would only get 25mpg at best now shows consistent 32 mpg at 60mph at 105000 miles so would have to agree, not had the tdv8 long enough but i do know its better on fuel than the td6.......... Very Happy
