memory seat position.

Hi Everybody !
When I use my key fob to unlock the car my drivers seat moves to a position that has never been set in its memory! It virtually 'lies flat' ! I have to press, and hold in, the number 1 memory button to move it back to the position that it was in when I left the car. I have used my spare key to unlock the car as well and the same thing occurred. Any advice will be great, thank you.
Also, when you wish to memorise a position, you press the M button followed by the number buttons, 1,2 or 3, should a ping be heard?
Cheers 'Knowledge Is Power'

From memory, no bong on memory set, well mine never used to.
The key may have stored settings as they are set up for user 1 user 2 per key. A battery re- set might do the trick, someone will be here shortly to clarify Thumbs Up

I never had a 2002 car but I'm pretty certain they bonged when you set a memory position.

If you have tried setting a memory position on both keys and it still lays it out flay then something is wrong, try the battery disconnect for half an hour and see if it clears it Discovery 4 HSE

As above - they key may not be paired with Memory 1 - the idea is that each driver/key has their own memory position.

Try programming the position for Memory 2 to be the same as Memory 1

The seats don't make any noise on programming, as Stan says the memory button lights up when in programming mode.

This is not linked to the keys, the seating position for the Lazy seats is the last set...

So it appears you have a faulty Lazy seats feature, you can turn it off with an IID or similar, or the dealer can....

recliner seat !

Thank you for your comments lads, however...

Today, I thought that I would use my key to manually unlock the door and see if the seat moved into this reclined position... I turned the key, opened the door and the alarm went off! I shut the door quickly and relocked it by using the remote and then, opened it again with the remote button. The seat stayed in its original position.... I have since locked and unlocked the car using the remote button, and goes what? The seat doesn't recline/lay flat !! Smile
I know what I did isn't probably in any manual, but it appears, so far, to have worked !
Great stuff!
Cheers again... I wonder if I should become a 'consultant' on RR problems?? lol 'Knowledge Is Power'

update about Memory Seat position

Just to let you know that the memory for the drivers seat has been perfectly fine since I used the key to manually unlock the door ! I even have the Numbered buttons working correctly with differing seat positions ... All is Good ! Thumbs Up
