DPF Full

Hi all,

This has just popped up on dash today. 4.4TDV8.

Apart from trying the 20+ miles on an open motorway I've heard there is a diagnostic way to the regeneration process.
Is it possible to do this on the IID tool and then going for a drive?

Ian, any reoccurring engine fault codes? There is a well known fault with a sensor in the NS manifold on the 4.4’s that brings up a fault code but NOT the MIL light... This over fuels the engine filling the DPF even quicker!

This fault came up after clearing them twice. Looks like the issue.

Been out for a run and cleared the faults mid journey and the DPF has gone.

Keep getting a new fault pop up P040D-00 (2A) Unknown

google says it's egr related. didn't think there was egr on the cars with dpf fitted.

P2459
Diesel particulate filter regeneration frequency

P040D
Exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor A – circuit high

EGR is needed on anything with a DPF, to regulate the exhaust gas temps Thumbs Up

How do I get rid of the egr fault. It's the only one that seems to be popping up now.

Is it possible it was just too hot due to the long drive at higher rpm to clear out the dpf?

This is spooky. Just logged on to post/ learn about this very fault as my wife rang me this evening to say the the warning light came on DPF Full.

Always amazes me that cars often don't miss a beat and a week after being into main dealer for a major service, warning lights start going off.

Ian, the P040D code is indeed the sensor in the NS manifold fault i listed above... That is what is filling your DPF sir! Rolling Eyes

The part is around £70 and JLR main dealers charge 0.8hrs to fit the part Thumbs Up

The car is still under LR warranty so may speak the dealer about that.

The only other thing was after I cleared the faults. I looked at the dpf live data. The dpf remaining volume was 0.0L. Now does that mean the dpf is almost full again or that it is completely empty.
My thought was almost full.

So... Ours too is under warranty.

Regardless, do I need a new part or just a 20 minute drive at 70 mph (car been tootling locally in recent weeks)?

Thanks.

Thumbs Up
