Seat belt warning - is this right?

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out if my seat belt warning system is working:

1. Ignition on, seat belt light on
2. Start engine, seat belt light goes off after a few seconds
3. No bong (I know this is configurable)
4. If I either don't plug a front seatbelt in, or unplug while car running, the light doesn't come on again. Yes there is a person in the seat Smile

Is this expected behaviour?

Probably been disabled

With the ignition on but engine off try inserting the buckle repeatedly nine times, in and out until you hear a bong.
Don't hold down the red button, allow it to click in fully, then press to release (errr, like putting the seat belt on and off! Rolling with laughter )

England

My light just comes on for a few seconds then goes off, no bong.

Suggest you leave it like this, for sanity reasons, unless you and your passengers need a bong and message centre reminder, every time Thumbs Up .

Hmmm, didn’t think any of them did... That was the reason they dropped a star on the ncap safety thingy... Confused

Mine is post facelift (2006 model) and has no bong at any time, just a red light when you first start which goes out after a while seatbelt on or not and which does not come on even if you unplug while driving.

I wish I could disable the bongs on newer cars, I know when I am wearing a seatbelt and when for various reasons I don't want to. At least none of mine have the warning for the passenger seat which are a pain if you put something on the seat. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t
