Austria 2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zermatt Silver
Gearbox TD6 latest options

After reading a lot in this and other forums i need some advice from the forum please.

I have a my06 td6 remapped from day one with now 117k km on the clock.
i did gearbox oil change twice and a new filter when i bought the car with 90k km.

Everything was fine till now. When i go up some small hill or uphill say 2-3 kilometers
it smells like burnt clutch when i leave the car after that. i also notice that rubber band effect is comming
when i accelerate from halt in the last time. i was driving once a pre owned one that had the same effect a lot more than mine.
also i think the clutch is now more slipping than usually.

as we all know the problem with the gearbox i'm very sensitive to that topic.

my thoughts are now:

- change oil and filter again to check for debris, and if
- change the torque converter to a HD one and let the rest of the box be inspected
- is the combination of HD TQ and sonnaxed valve body bulletproof or do we now have other options?

my point is that i want to take action now before the rest of the box gets damaged.
i'm thinking about ordering the HD TQ from australia or are there any other options now?

as you can order remanufactured boxes very easy i can drive till it dies and get a now one but
i want something that lasts and not a refurb box with the same weak spot.

Good workshops for automatic are quite limitated here in austria so i'm looking forward for any advice in that topic and
say thank you!

Iirc if you look around there are options to use parts from the 5l50 gearbox which has stronger and thicker clutch packs so this added in with the sonnax valve block and a HD TC would make a very strong box that should outlast the rest of the csr with normal fluid changes.

Dex 5&6 fluids are cheap enough now so if you did just a fluid flush to see for debris it wouldn't be too costly but IMO if mine got to that point I'd source a duff box and a the 5l50 clutch packs and HD TC and be done with it in one go. After a few weeks of that I'd likely get the gearbox remap as well to make it last even longer and reduce clutch and TC slippage below 50mph FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
